Rubber seals in slide locks!

Has anyone replaced the rubber seals that fit inside the holes in the top of the slide for the pins to press into?  I understand they deteriorate over a period of time and allow some water to enter instead of going into the drip tubes.  Since we are replacing our slide awning cover, would like to address this issue if possible.  Any information anyone can give us on these with regards to replacing, etc., would be most appreciated.  I am assuming I can order the new seals from Foretravel.

Do you mean the slide lock bushings?  Not sure they are to keep water out as much as to keep the lock pins from rattling.

They are not making any noise, but when it rains, I have one that is seeping, so I cover the hole up with tape when parked and slide out.  Kind of a pain, but necessary.  There are plastic lines that are suppose to direct the water out through the slide bottom.  Since the awning is over the slide right now, can't tell if the holes are filled with the deteriorating rubber, which could be the issue.  Just heard that if the seals were bad, they would leak.

I can blow out the debris from the bottom of the slide.  Don't use too high a pressure.  The drain hole is near the bottom edge.  Put a rag over the top pin hole to keep the debris from going all over the place and possibly staining the underside of the awning.

I would also look very closely for delamination of the surface of the slide around the pin holes.  It is common on early 2000 coaches.  The area around the pin hole can be caulked as a temporary fix but in the long run, the delam should be repaired.  A search of the forum will turn up some interesting reading.

You can bang the sides, top and bottom of the slide with your hand and feel if they are solid or delaminated.  It should be like pounding on a solid surface kitchen counter.  You'll know if it moves.  I had mine repaired a few years ago at Xtreme.  Top, bottom and both sides.

PM me and I'll send a phone number if you'd like to discuss.

You can take the two cabinets apart on the ceiling and expose the pin lock housing.. mine were loose and one had a bracket broken.. I fixed the bracket put silicone caulk on the top all the way around the lip that's machined out .. pushed it up and tightened the bolts after testing the slide for operation...

Next day I cut the fat off of the caulk.. recaulked the top so it was flush to the slide.. inside I caulked the housing to the ceiling so it's all sealed inside and out

Guess I need to see where the drain hose comes out and see if that is plugged.  Could be the issue!  Thanks everyone for their recommendations and photos!  There are no cabinets on the slide side on the 2000 coach.  Just the cover with about 30 screws holding it up.  lol

As you face the slide .. inside the motorhome. Take the ceiling off inside the cabinet on the left side where the pin lock box is. They loop from the right to the left then down. Undo the tee and blow it out with compressed air

I didn't see his coach is older but if the cabinets are not their.. I am guessing this things are behind something? Or do they hang ornaments from them on the interior?

David, there is a L bracket of padded material that fills in the front of the slide at the top.  There are lots of screws holding it up and I am assuming I can reach in there and get to the aluminum boxes the pins go into.

if you are able to squirt some caulk in from the top that's what I would try.. to be done correctly I'd take the thing apart and do it from the inside and out .. might be able to find some grommets that would work but just as easy as you need to take it apart no matter what to just silicone it

Some do. Ours does. Built August or September of 1999. It has removable covers, inside the cabinets, to gain access to the inside of the lock pin receiver blocks. If you can gain access to the inside of the blocks, Davids suggestion is the way to go, IMO. The vertical portion of the drain hose can be cleaned with a stranded 12AWG wire and compressed air. As mentioned, BE GENTLE with the drain lines.

More on-topic, Ours didn't have any rubber sleeves in the top pin receivers. What it did have is two 3/8" flat washers, wrapped in vinyl electric tape, pushed into the bottom of each of the holes. Another, unwrapped, flat washer on top of that. I have no idea if it ever had rubber sleeves or if the washers were an early factory deal. The washers and tape were blocking the drain holes, so I removed them. The slide is now well adjusted (locking pin blocks properly shimmed, carpet glide shoes properly adjusted) and, even without rubber the sleeves, on our last trip  I noticed no rattle from the slide. YMMV

Greg;  that is the L bracket I have in our coach.  I see your cabinets below where it mounted.  Wish we had those in our coach!  Will be able to tell more when Shade Pro comes out here next week and replaces our slide awning.  I will be able to look straight down into the holes and tell more from there.  Will post what I find!  Thanks everyone for your help on this.  We are sitting here in Palm Springs, CA in a hurricane.  Wow, the wind here is something else!

Spoke with Ronnie today at FOT and he can't find anything on seals or rings, etc the 2000 slide pin holes.  Hope to take some photos tomorrow and send to him looking down inside the hole.  Aparently, there were a lot of different configurations done on these slides back then.  Hope to find the answer before long and will report back here.

In our coach the pin lock holes have a cylindrical rubber bushing with a cone shaped hole in the top that the pin fits. Is is the diameter of the hole and as I recall it is about an inch and a half long.  I got a pair to replace my top bushings at FOT.  I think they were about $50 each.  My pins were making a lot of noise until I lubed the bushings. No noise since.  Still have the replacements I never used.  There are drain lines that I blew out as described in the post Michelle referenced.

The first LR slides in 1999 had no cabinets.  Sometime in 2000 they added 5-6" tall cabinets.  We have those in our 2001.  By 2002 they got taller, covered up some of the side window valence but didn't go all the way to the ends of inside of the slide because of the end windows. By 2003 the end windows were shorter and the cabinets went full length again.
