1997 u295 - water and lp level indicators

I recently took possession of a 1997 U295 and I do not know where to look for the gas and water tank monitors telling me how much I have in grey and black water etc. dealer said it's in my voyager system but when I hit select there is only AV1 showing. I can't find indicators anywhere in the coach. The big LP bottle has its own gauge but also a sensor wire so there has to be a dashboard somewhere. Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff

Yes, OE was the Audit system which displayed tank levels on the screen in the dash:  potable water, gray, black, LP and house battery bank voltage.

If the Audit monitor was replaced, they may or may not have interfaced the new one to the Audit output.  If not, on most systems, it is not difficult to do.  It could be switched on the new monitor (rear to monitor view) OR on the OE switch next to the Audit screen in the dash.

Thank you very much for the info. I am going to look for the orphaned connections.

Good luck with orphaned connectors, maybe others on the forum can help with that.

I chose to install the Garnett SeeLevel II, with a water pump switch.  Many good posts here on forum about this. If you go this way, call Garnett, as they offer many various combinations.  Instead of increments of 1/4, you have 0 to 100%.

The one with correct temporary on/off switch is only avail on ones from Garnet, mfg of SeeLevel II, Amazon unit has on/off only, not intermittent switch.  Bought mine from Amazon, Garnett shipped me correct switch free. I highly recommend their product. Calling them before for part number helps insure getting the right one.  Ordering two kits gives correct number of sensors and gives you two remote panels, one for inside, and one for wetbay.

Did you have any issues with the pump switch on the SeeLevel?  It was my understanding that their only option was a latching switch that would not work with our standard momentary switches and latching relay design.  When I installed mine they did not offer a momentary switch.  How did you resolve that?

I called them and asked them for it at tech support.  My only other option would have been to return the whole unit to Amazon, this switch change out was an easier choice.

Many are offered with no switch, many with different choices with or without voltage and lpg.  That is why I suggest calling Garnett first to get correct kit and part number.

Interesting.  I also called them to ask if the switch could be changed and they told me "no".  This was a couple of years ago.  Either I got the wrong answer from the wrong person or they've changed something.  I would have chosen the model with the pump switch for both of my control panels if I had known.  The system does work MUCH better than my old Audit system though.  Definitely worth the upgrade.

We switched to the SeeLevel system many years ago and like it quite a bit.  We did not get switches on the panels just display for volts, LP, fresh, grey and black.  It you get one with a switch they are designed for switching +12 volts.  Your water pump may exceed the power limit if you connect it directly.  The latching relay latches and un latches based on a momentary ground link.  You could switch to a momentary switch with +12v and add a relay to close a path to ground for the latching relay.  Probably a lot of extra work for little gain.

Get two standard kits.  The each have a display and three 12" strips.  Most FT tanks are going to use 22" of sensor strip.  They can be adjusted to length so with a second kit you have 6 strips.  Use two per tank, adjust length as needed. Put one display inside (ours is in the bathroom) and the second one in the fill bay.

With just one set of 12" (I think you can get 16" strips now as well, maybe the same price) It seems like putting the fresh closer to the top of the tank lets you know when it is full.  When it says 0 time to think about adding water. Put the waste tank strips closer to the bottom of the tank.  At 100% time to think about dumping.

With two strips per tank Leave an inch or two at the top and bottom of the tank.  The leaves some reserve water in the fresh, gets you to quit filling soon enough in the fresh and reserve space at the top for waste.

We got ours here.
