1995 U300 Check Engine/ Stop Engine light

Our 1995 U300 was not plugged in for a couple weeks. We had the start batteries turned off.
The low battery alarm starting going off. We turned the batteries on and started the engine.
We got a check engine stop engine alarm.
Could this be related to the batteries going low? We now have it plugged in to keep the batteries charged.
My husband tried starting it again today and still got the check engine/ stop engine alarm.
Could the two be related?
Thanks, Susan

Please let us know what engine you have-- the 1995 U300 could have one of THREE:

Detroit Diesel 6V92
Caterpillar 3176
Cummins M11

What is battery voltage-- chassis battery bank?  house battery bank?

Do you have access to shore power?  Generator start AND is charging the batteries?

It's a Cat 3176.
He said it's at 13 volts and it is plugged into shore power.
The generator will start. The coach has all new batteries.

OK, from the factory, the converter or inverter/charger ONLY charges the house bank-- that is likely what you are reading. Sure, in the last 25 years, that could have been modified by a previous owner.

What is CHASSIS BATTERY voltage?

Easy way to check voltage is with a plug in voltmeter inserted into the dash lighter plug for engine battery voltage. The sidewall lighter plug close to the driver's left leg is the house batteries. Buy two and know what's going on. Amazon.com: LCD Cigarette Lighter Voltage Digital Panel Meter Volt Voltmeter...
