Whole house Surge Protector

First of all,  I was able to repair my Surround Sound, DVD Player and Subwoofer after my coach catastrophe under transfer switch issues.  They all had an internal fuse that blew.  Two other devices were saved with the GE SurgePro individual unit protector attached at the end of the cord.  See attached pictures.

I am installing 2 Hughes Power Watchdog in the coach.  One outside after the reel and one inside after the first transfer switch.  While I was searching the internet for SurgePro replacements I found that GE makes GE PowerMark Gold 10 KA Indoor Surge Protective Device Item #36250 Model #THQLSURGE.

Our coaches have the GE PowerMark Gold Panel and subpanel.  You need 3 open breaker spaces to install the device.  I'm looking to install one in each panel since I have the space in my panels.  Hoping this will give me added protection from any internal failure outside of the EMS coverage.

Has anyone used these type of surge protectors in your home or coach?  It couldn't hurt anything and just give my panels extra protection.  Any thoughts?

Attached is a link to the device at Lowes, a screen shot of the specs, image of my panels and image of the burned individual SurgePro units.

There is one in my upper kitchen cabinet over the microwave with the microwave plugged into it. Thought it was factory.

We are going to install the whole house unit in our panel.  Just finished ordering 2.  One for each panel.  This way I avoid using the plug in unit and everything on the panel is covered.
Thanks guys,

Richard, I agree.  They did what they were suppose to do.  Now I'm going to install the Whole House Surge Protector.

This is the only one that I use and sell. Has a great warranty, but I have never checked it out to see if it really works since have not had the need.  It stands alone and needs a 50A breaker connecting it to the panel. Most of the others ones I have seen say they need a 20A breaker.
