Can you walk on slideout when extended?

Can you walk on top of slideout when it is extended?  Was in some high winds the other day and a seam on the slideout awning unraveled, so I will need to sew it.

I would not recommend it unless there is no other way.

The slide out has a steel frame.  It is very sturdy.  The steel is also pretty close together so probably don't have to worry about the skin but I would lay a piece of plywood down to spread the load.  The stops also butt up against steel frame members in the wall of the coach.  I'm guessing the slide out weighs 1000 lbs or more so if you're a lightweight, it might be OK.

I've done it many time. No issues. But it has always been brief, cleaning the top of slide, stepping onto roof etc.

After looking at the slideout awning really well, I decided it wasn't worth it to take off awning and try to sew the seams.  The part of the awning that is always open to the weather when the slideout is extended is pretty worn out.  The part that extends out over the window looks almost brand new.  Instead I used some Tear Mender Instant Fabric Adhesive to reattach the two seams that had come unraveled.  Hopefully it will hold it together until we get back to Florida in the late Fall.

MOT  replaced that awning fabric on our 2002.  I can't remember the price but it wasn't terrible and it matched the others just fine.

You can order the awning fabric directly from ZipDee.  They supply installation instructions. Pretty easy two man job.

Get a new key strip when you do.
