Gen set volage regulator, rebuildable?

I have the 8kw unit in our U270. The voltage regulator on the gen set has stopped working. I can get a new one from Powertech, but when I checked the price was over $300.

I was wondering if it was possible to refurbish what I have, as right now time is more available than dollars!

I appreciate any input.

Very risky to try. I destroyed the 3K head with the Powertech regulator wiring it the way it came from the factory on my 10k gen. If you buy from Powertech you can get Jeff to help you if a wiring change is required. Not all have to have the wires changed with a new reg.

I just bit the bullet and bought from power tech after verifying with Jeff that I had the right one. It made everything better and if you install it yourself it cuts down the cost. I had a gas Onan generator on my last RV and the stupid carburetor was 250 bucks. They somehow made the original carburetors Non rebuildable. I'm just glad regulators are still available. Can't be a high volume part.

Recommend Jeff at Powertech as well!  Can save your bacon if you do the wrong wires, etc.  They changed ours out while we were in Wildwood.  Cost $300 and took them less than 15 minutes to do!  Happy no other issues!
