What is this sensor?

The Speedometer and Tachometer is not working properly on my 91 GV. Both are reporting high number than actual value. Reading from the forum, it seems like the sensor might went bad. There are parts still available, but my problem is where are the sensor for Speedometer and Tachometer?

In the attached picture, it seems like an sensor, is that the speedometer sensor?

That appears to be the tans. fluid temp sensor for the dash gauge.

Or could it be speed sensor. You are most probably right  Mike As you are much more in tune with things than me.

What transmission do you have?

If it is the Allison 3060 then the output speed sensor is on the transmission.  See post linked below:

I think on those the speed sensor is more to the top of the transmission near the tail shaft.  Twig will know for sure, he will chime in this afternoon. That looks like a MT 643

OK, with the 6V92 and 4-speed tranny, look on top of the tail shaft housing (area between the transmission body and the U-joint).  Should have a 2-wire connector.  See info in thread below:
