Oil Fill Tube - Leak at Pan?

It appears I have a small leak from the engine oil fill tube where it connects to the pan.
 
Is there a replaceable gasket or o-ring? If so, does anyone have a part number?

Would clean that area first to make sure where the leak is,then get your serial number and get on the Cummins site and register your engine and you can look up the parts yourself.

Clean and silicone back in. Better than an o-ring

Thanks for that info.  I did not know there was a way to do that..  I will definitely register so I can look up parts.

As John said clean the area and the tube. My tube was cracked and had been cracked before and welded. I re welded it and was
going to make a support bracket for the tube, so this was a good reminder and I will make  it today.

Great suggestion.  I assumed it is leaking from the gasket, but could definitely be a crack.  I will clean it up and check.  Does not appear to be leaking much, but certainly prefer to eliminate leaks when practical.

After cleaning up the area you will find 4 bolts. Remove these and the tube will come loose.  Our OEM gasket was a cork/rubber somewhat rectangle gasket. We went to our local gasket supply company and they gave me a piece of gasket material big enough to cut out a new gasket.  One thing you need to make sure that the mounting plate is flat. When the fill tube was welded to the plate it can cause warpage. If yours is warped the gasket will have a hard time of sealing. A good file will be your friend, as it don't have to be perfectly smooth just flat.

Sorry that your dip stick tube is leaking. This has been a weak link causing breakage, probably because the dip stick housing tube is not well supported.

As a preventative measure before ours gave us trouble, we reinforced the tube with braces, trying to take stress off the place where the tube slips into the lower side of engine.

His problem is the fill tube and that's a good idea for the dip stick.

Ours looks about like yours... just haven't got to fixing it yet. A very small leak can make a bit of a mess, over time.

Oops, on our dip stick reinforcement not relating to the M11 oil fill leak on a different engine.

I will leave our wayward posting, but know it is obviously for a Cummins C-8.3 engine.
