Water fill valve leaking out of fill hose

Just noticed that my water fill valve 12f24c2148a3f is leaking out the fill hose when coach pump is pressurized. Rebuild kit is 12f24c2148a3fr. Does anyone have a affordable source. Crazy to pay 100$ for a kit when new valve is 150$ Thanks

The leaking back flow preventer is a common problem.  It doesn't take much "junk" to prop it slightly open and cause a leak back through the hose.  I took the guts out of our B.F.P. and replaced it's function with a plastic quarter turn valve.  Push-to-connect fittings make it a easy mod.  Valve provides positive shutoff of water fill line.

I carry a hose end cap incase of a failure of the check valve and wanting some time to replace it if it isn't convenient at the time.

I replaced my check valve twice. The third time it failed I replaced it with a shark bite ball valve.

I replaced my check valve three times before I started using a filter on the incoming water when I fill the tank.  As a "belt and suspenders" kind of deal, besides the check valve I now plug the end of the hose when not in use.  I made a plug for the hose by cutting the end off an old hose and plugging it with a dowel and 5200 caulk.  As an added bonus the plug keeps unwanted critters and ambient dirt out of the hose.

Alternative:  They make brass (or plastic) male garden hose end plugs.

Available most big box and garden supply stores.  I use one to keep bugs and dirt out of our water fill hose.

You can also hit the garden section at Lowes or Home Depot and pick up a brass 1/4 turn valve that fit hose ends.

Yes I did order check valve for now, no need to reinvent the wheel at this time. Yes it has a cap on it to prevent leak but like all that mess unpressurized if possible.
