Fan blade

So for KISS reasons I think I really want an ORED. That being said, they all seem to be 1000 miles away. If it does have a fiberglass fan I will have to get it home with limited time logistics. I can clean and inspect for obvious damage, what I can see. I know it MAY be ticking time bomb. Limp home keeping the rpms below 2000? Are they really that bad or do they explode from hitting something kicked up by the tires. Not the ideal way I want to start a journey.

My 91 has the original fan on it and I do have a replacement for it. just have not had time to change it yet. Foretravel did not make a big deal out of it when I inquired a couple years ago when I bought this thing. They said some had had problems but they did not sell very many.Your talking about a 29 year old setup,if it has not broken yet do you think it will on your purchase drive home,Maybe / Maybe Not ,Feeling Lucky?
I think you are worrying about something that you shouldn't at this point, Yes something that probably shoukd be addressed to ease any tension,but I think having enough cold beer in the fridge would be more important/jmo

I sold literally a hundred OREDS new. If you are budgetary limited and highly mechanically inclined and are wiling to roll the dice they are a choice.

The unihome and the later unicoach are both major increases in features, advantages and customer benefits.

Each step was major. Both the unihome, then the stronger structure and better view unicoach.

Buy your last coach first.

Competent mechanical have rebuilt several engines. I have only twice hired a mechanic, once to change the pitman arm seal on a f150 that was 25 years old cause I didn't have that big of puller and I knew it was going to be a total bitch $75, the other time was to replace the ignition switch on the MBZ, cause if you do it wrong, it has a spring loaded gulitine that severs the $700 transmission shifter cable + about $3500 labor, $120 no brainier at the dealer if you can get it started,. Once the switch arrived I spent 5 hours twisting the ignition switch until about 2 am it started and filled it up with fuel and left it idleling until the MBZ dealer opened at 8:00

..... my 89, 3208 had Fiberglass as Jay (twobus) replaced it not too long ago.

It's been a few years since I did the belts on our coach, took the bed off at the hinge so I could access the motor a better so I went out and confirmed my recollection. With a magnet, the fan blades are steel........

It seems to me like the oskosh 3208 had steel fans, but the unihome 3208 had the fiberglass fans.

This is an old topic, but after searching all the fiberglass fan replacement threads I couldn't find a single one that listed the nylon/plastic replacement fan part number for the 3208. Does anyone have that? If not it's not that big of a deal to pull it and get all the measurements, but, if someone already blazed that trail, I'll walk that way..

We had a '93 U225 with a 5.9 Cummins nine. In the middle of East Gippip, the harmonic balancer edged out of the engine, shearing off the fan blades and our temp started rising. Pulled over, lots of headscratching, no liquid dripping, just some funny piece of white stuff on the hood of our tow. Lifted the bed, and the engine was covered with pieces of the same whitish nylon. Finally figured put the chain of events, drive 20 miles to find a phone signal and arrange for a tow. Long time on the side of the road ... buzzards are circling overhead ... but they guy finally coms and we recive an 85 mile tow to the closest town that had a diesel mechanic. God Bless Good Sam. Called Foretravel with a photo of the remaining center of the fan to show the bolt pattern (I want to say there were 5) and waited. First part had to be returned because it was incorrect ... finally we got the right thing. We spent a month in Fort Stockton, one week.

Granted, this is where I got my fan for our 8.2 Turbo V8, but they sell fans and were very knowledgeable.

Try Nitehawk's suggestion (above) first. if that doesn't work, the thread linked below (you may have already seen it) has some fan info. The last post in the thread shows a decal on a new replacement fan. Decal has a phone number. You could try calling it?

Yep, I saw that one and the reference to the 8681 fan, just wasn't sure if the 6V92 and the 3208 used the same fan. Doesn't appear to matter because from what I'm finding that 8681 fan isn't made anymore. Not a huge deal, I had a custom fan cut when I did the duramax swap on my last coach and got it from Superior Turbo and Injection out of Michigan.

Can anyone verify the hub pattern and pilot are 6 on 3.5" and 2" pilot hole(have an old fan lying around)? I'm pretty sure that is correct.
Edit: inspection mirror and a caliper...verified 2" hub pilot and 6 on 3.5" bolt pattern. 28" diameter, clockwise rotation and pretty much a neutral backspacing of the hub/blades.

The 8681 fan was made by Flex A Lite. I just called their number which is on the decal in the picture I postedon my original post. I left a voice message to see if that fan us still available for order. When and if I get a reply I will post the results.

Installed and tested the new ACS 296200-28 Fan today...bolt in affair...no issues at all. I bought it from Ross Equipment and they were great to work with. Less than $175 shipped. Ross Equipment Inc - American Cooling Systems
