Water pump leak

My M11 water pump appears to be leaking (drip leak) around the o-ring where the pump goes into water transfer sleeve
I read archives that red tractor had this issue 5 years ago but he didn't post if he was able to get coach home or if he had to fix it on the road, any suggestions appreciated— we are in canton Texas for a few days and I would like to get it home to do repair but can do it here if I have to

I did that job just a couple of weeks ago.  If you are careful, you can do it without removing the water pump - three bolts and it pivots.

Drain the coolant, remove the thermostat box, remove the three water pump bolts, pivot the pump, CAREFULLY remove the old o-ring and install the new one.  It will be tight, and you will want to lube the o-ring up.  Probably need to remove a couple of hoses to get the pump to pivot.

I have extra o-rings, and would be glad to send you one, if you need it.  PM your address.

I will be glad to answer questions.  No doubt there are people here more qualified than me to answer them, but I will give it a shot.

Guessing at stuff now.  Because the o-ring is almost fully surrounded by metal surfaces, I would not think that the leak would quickly change into a catastrophic fluid loss.  I believe that my leak was a long-standing one, masked by some Barr's Leak.

I was fortunate to have activated the leak here at home.  If I were traveling, I think I would have tried to make it home.  I would probably pull over every 45 minutes or so to check the coolant level, and watch that gauge like a fanatic.  Maybe dose it with Barr's Leak (again), and clean it out when I got home.

It may stop leaking at running temp. I'm not but 3 hrs away so call me if I can bring anything or give a hand.. May have O rings that will fit in the kits I have.

I would get some cardboard or similar and after fast idle and warm up put it under and see if it stops  or slows way down.. May help you decide to drive it to Arkansas before repairs.

Thanks for input plan to get it to running temp then check it .  It's just much easier to do work when I'm home

Weather warmed up and leak stopped we will be headed home in the morning

We. all made it home with no mishaps had a great few days with the Sickels'
Now to decide  what the next step will be!!!  I will probably go ahead and replace water pump because of age.  I've been down on the side of the road and don't like that feeling.
