Norgren Solenoid Valve

The step cover in our 97 U295 stopped retracting.  The step will go out, when the switch is toggled, but will not retract.  I can push the switch, and then manually push the cover back in, but it won't retract on its own.  I can hear a click when I push the switch, but it does nothing.

I took the valve off, and the piston seems to be functioning smoothly/correctly.  I disconnected the solenoid and then plugged it in.  When I push the switch, it does not move.  So, could this solenoid valve be bad?  Or, what else can I check?

Bruce how hard is the cover to push in and pull out or possibly disconnect the pin ob the underside and check how hard it is to move.  If it seems pretty snug I would say it is the valve bit if there is a lot of slop it may be the cylinder

I was trouble shooting, and switched the air supply hoses to the valve, and it started working correctly.

A reminder that some have put an electric-operated air solenoid valve on the air line to the step slide valve. Dumping air with slide in or out extends the life of the hard to change air piston.
