Removing the Sundstrand Fan Controller

So, I've installed a wax capsule fan controller (199F fully closed) I've removed the "Sour" Sundstrand electric controller.

Does the Sundstrand controller interface with the engine ECU, or is it an independent system. I suspect it's independent. 6 wires going to it: E0-12V, ground, AIR 2A & 2B-Manifold temp sensor, and COL 1A & 1B. The first 4 I've traced, or found on the prints. The last 2 (COL) I can't find on the prints. I think they go to a coolant temp sensor I have yet to locate. I'll have to dig further. I can check resistance across those 2 ... should be around 1300 Ohms @ 90F.

Has anybody removed the Sundstrand controller, and it's related wiring from their coach? If so, did doing so create any issues with the engine ECU? (Fault codes, etc)

My wax ring controller is pretty straight forward with no wiring.  I taped and labeled the  (now loose) wires  and left them hanging.  Always good to label these loose ends so you don't have to wonder about them later.  No issues with the ECU.

Yeah, Miss Kitty, but she's a quarter horse. The MisterEd is a variant of a nick name given to me in when I was in my early 20's.

Back on topic.

The 2 wires, COL 1A & 1B, go to a temp sensor on the block, just left of the coolant filter mount. Electrically, except for sourcing power from the chassis electrics, it's a completely independent system from the rest of the coach. After disconnecting the ground wire from the cylinder head, and cutting the EO lead (12V) where it comes out of another harness, I was able to remove the entire Sundstrand controller harness, intact. Since this was my goal, I'm a happy camper.

Greg I hate to open this topic back up, but am installing my basically IAT Valve and was wondering if the power wire runs to the front of the coach or is isolated to the engine compartment wire harness.  I've used two of my spare wires for my seven pin towing plug update and will use a third for the control circuit but would prefer to save all that are there if possible. Will incorporate a normal IAT circuit incorporated with a brake , retarder activation circuit with a manual override on for max cooling of engine compartment components and transmission prior to nightly shut down assisting a cooler bedroom. I've looked for several hours and never found the wires you mentioned for power or there source.

 The only original wires connecting the Sundstrand harness to the coach were the two I mentioned in post #7; ground and +12V supply. On our 2000, the +12V is labeled "EO" on the engine wiring harness diagram, and passed into the engine harness above the dash AC compressor to the right of the head/rocker cover interface. From there, I think it goes forward to a breaker (somewhere). I'll pull the drawing this PM and post it here.

Here's the drawings showing wire E0, called 0 on these drawings. It originates at the 8th breaker in the drawings: "BACKUP RLY FAN CONT" It's also listed on the master wire ID list as 0, and on the engine wire ID list as E0.

Okay so it is isolated to the engine. Will probably add a fuse in the front of my coach and add to my supplemental wiring diagram with the coach for future reference. And use one more of the spare wires, I guess that is why they are there is to use them. Thanks a bunch. I'll get the diagrams printed up in paper for the coach also thanks. Still need to figure out how to get the IAT function to trigger it also but I'm much closer now.
