You are really on top of almost all other vehicle in the traffic. This height give me a lot of confidence since I can see a lot further away and adjust the pedal brake accordingly.I thought the driver seat height is about the same for all Class A RV. It is apparently not. When I met Bill with 89 36 ft. His friends drive a Fleetwood Excusion. According to him, the driver seat is much lower than the U300 GV. just little bit higher than the Ford F series trucks. Quote Selected

Re: U300 Grand Villa Unihome Headroom Reply #4 – July 09, 2021, 07:00:23 pm The U280 is the same as the U300. I've never been next to an 18 wheeler that I didn't look down at the driver. It take a little getting used to as new drivers tend to drive on the right side of the lane. Also the speed up high seems slower than you are really going. Great view of the countryside and the wrap around windshields just add to the CinemaScope effect. Riding upstairs in the front seat of a London doubledecker, it appeared the driver was going to hit every car and was not going to be able to squeeze into a lane. Pierce Quote Selected
Re: U300 Grand Villa Unihome Headroom Reply #5 – July 09, 2021, 07:21:03 pm The drivers and passenger seat in the Unihomes are mounted on a elevated floor about 10 inches above the living area floor unlike the Unicoaches. Quote Selected
Re: U300 Grand Villa Unihome Headroom Reply #6 – July 09, 2021, 07:43:11 pm Floor to headliner is 76 3/4" in our U300. Measured from parquet floor not carpet. Our AC is mounted off to the curb side on ours just slightly in front of the recliner. The one above looks to be in the center. Ours may give a little more headroom when walking down the middle. Bedroom AC is slightly off center. The U300/36 WTBI has an open wall on the curb side of the main salon where we mounted the 50" TV. This is max as a 55 inch will stick out into the passageway. 40 footer has a bar/mirror there.Pierce Quote Selected
Re: U300 Grand Villa Unihome Headroom Reply #7 – July 09, 2021, 07:58:33 pm 89.... 280 has a low ceiling as in I had to duck or wham the ac which I did plenty.. Was glad to get a crowned roof with no more ducking.. I've had both elevated GV pilot and flat on the floor unicoach.. I prefer the flat on the floor seat but did ok with the elevated GV. When getting in and out a lot for whatever reason flat on the floor with front door entrance a little easier imo. Quote Selected

Re: U300 Grand Villa Unihome Headroom Reply #9 – July 09, 2021, 09:44:16 pm My Buffalo bus was front entry and split height. I liked it for a little more interior room without the central door in the 35 footer. The U300 with the mid entry is great for stepping in the coach and grabbing something out of the fridge. Bathroom is just a quick turn to the left and not far to get to the driver's seat. Loading supplies is easier with the mid entry. The GV has a great personal feeling up front with the two seats, almost like the cockpit of an big aircraft. Without the entry door, the passenger feels like more of an equal member of the flight crew. Since the AC is off to one side, I never come close to hitting my head. That was a good move whenever they moved it to the side. The only bad move was the entry door placement. If it were a foot further forward, there would be plenty of room for a convertible booth/bed or even bunk beds. As it is, there is only 5 feet from the entry to the wall with the TV on it. We took out the table and have a short sofa for watching TV but need a pillow and need to lie at a little angle to fit.Drawback to the GV is a lot of wasted space below. The generator or a spare tire could have gone in the nose. Fuel and propane would have had to go on opposite side but would have gained an extra compartment. Room for a shallow compartment in the back but the huge muffler is in the way. Radiators could have gone up front with another shallow compartment on the rear. More power, better cooling and at least one mpg better.Yes, love the high driving position. I'm King of the Road with the air horns pointing that out to laggards. Pierce Quote Selected 2 Likes
