Serviced the coach today...

Ron (red tractor) stopped by and we took care of a few things on my coach today....and by we, I mean Ron.  He mostly had me running for parts.

-3 new Red Tops for the chassis
-Replaced a failed Trik-L-Start
-Replaced the starter with a new Delco gear reduction starter
-Engine and generator oil/filter change
-Greased the chassis
-Replaced a leaking air drain valve on one of the front air tanks
-Added a No-Spill oil drain kit to the generator.

I had ordered the No-Spill for the M11 but Amazon pulled the wrong part and the one they sent actually fit the generator.  Will get the No-Spill on the M11 next time around but will order it direct.

The gear reduction starter is the absolute bomb!!  Sounds like a fancy semi-truck starting instead of the slow groaning, please, please start experence that I've had until now.

Not sure where Ron gets the boundless energy from, but I think it involves P&J sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies. 😎

How hard is it to change out the starter? I'm interested in updating mine. What's involved? Is it a " one man" job?
Special tools???

Coming out you need push up strength to lower it or you can put a rope on it and have someone lower it from above. Going in it is much lighter just lift it up and stab it. Also you need a 12 pt. 1/2" drive 5/8" socket and long extension for the bolt against the block.

As the bolts will be tight you will need a long flex handle. If you have the
right tools it shouldn't be to bad.

Good morning,

Have answered a few PM's so let me put the part numbers out there.

No-Spill Systems (www.nospillsystems.com)plug that fit my generator.  Part # 15-12125-01
DelcoRemy 39MT gear reduction starter.  Part # 8200308

Note: Ron is half my size and a little bit older and he still had the starter R&Red all by himself while I was chasing down batteries (I did not want to do Red Tops again, but square G34's wouldn't fit the bracket).  You'll have to ask him the secret to the starter R&R.  I know he mentioned that it's very helpful to have a black socket extension meant for impact wrenches.  As I understand it there is much less flex when applying torque to that bolt which makes all the difference.
