length of main awning 98 36' 320

I was getting no love from the search function. As the coach isn't near me. What is the length of the main awing of the OEM manual ZipDee. Looking to order a shade sail for the back patio and figured I would order one to attach to the main awning and anchor to the ground for additional shade. I was thinking it about 26-28 feet. But can't verify.

On my 1999 u270 36'I have little more than 24 ft

Awnings are measured for the center of the arm, to the center of the arm.
Curious, what are you going to attach this to? Zip Dee, doesn't have a track like A&E's.

Jerry, we have a ZipDee sun shade.  It is about 15-16 ft long as I recall. The awning is 22 ft as I recall. Snaps install on the roller and there enough for the full length of the awning. The sun shade snaps on to the roller.  If you start at one end you will have 2 snaps left at the other end. It lets you adjust for a best fit to the sun.  It has ties to hold it when rolled up. It has eyes along the bottom edge for bungee cords to hold the bottom.  Be sure to ask for extra snaps that install on the roller. Make sure your pop rivet tool fits all the way down into the snap base. 

It works quite nice.

Measured mine, 22'-3" centerline of arms, roller is 6-8" less.

PS. I could have sworn they were longer than 22'. My eyes or at least my minds eye must be out of calibration. And to think i used to align minuteman II missiles by measuring the position of a collimated light source with a max error of .1 of an arc second with a theodolite.

If you pop rivet the snaps to the roller, be careful to use the shortest rivet you can on the spring loaded end of the awning roller. Long rivets can interfere with the spring windup.

The correct pop rivets are included.

Only if you buy the Zip Dee pkg can you be assured of the correct length rivets.
I bought a sunshade or sunscreen when we were in South Texas at a Camping World that has since gone out of business.
No rivets, just the screen. So I had to figure things out myself.
I must say that I always had problems with the spring end. I took it out after feeling it catching as I rolled the awning up or down. After removal I saw that the spring was marked with aluminum witness marks. I had taken the spring end apart a couple years earlier and noted that the square cross section wire had climbed up and over itself. So this probably contributed to the catching problem.
Since then I have replaced BOTH ends of the awning and now it works great.

The main thing I saw at the ZipDee sight that I didn't care for was that the shade was quite a bit shorter than the awning. I guess one can just buy the rivet/snap buttons from ZipDee and attach the snaps to some other brand of shade material to get better coverage of the long and rear sides.

The ZipDee shade is about 5 ft shorter than the awning.  It lets you move it towards either end of the big awning foe best fit to sun angle.  Works fine for us.  If you ask they may be able to make a longer one.
