Prolink 9000 Module

I need to identify a "series" (I.e., I, II, III) number for my DD 6V92TA DDEC on 1989 Grand Villa U300. Where would I find that information?

Not sure how to the series but it should be 1 or 2 mine is 2or 3

The first photo Andy posted is the correct and latest cartridge for your Detroit 6V-92TA and will work fine.

All Detroit 6V92TA two cycles fitted to Foretravels are DDEC II (2) and will take a ProLink 9000 cartridge that says DDEC I&II or II&III. either one will work. The cartridges marked II&III are later and like you might think, it work on DDEC II and III. There are revisions to the cartridges but probably not a big deal.

Just waiting on more hour for the smoke to be a little better up near Donner Summit and we will be heading up for the week. Should be able to access the forum so PM or post with question.

Plug in the Pro-Link to the port and turn on the key. That should do it. You can access all the history, MPG, engine serial number, and several dozen other choices without the engine running.

Most of the Pro-Links I have seen are powered from the port but I also have one with a lighter plug for the 12V.

It is getting expensive now.
Have been watching eBay for a used one,
Hard to find and if found it is usually $700+

Andy picked his up, reader and cartridge for under $100. I bought one of ours for $125 with the reader, Ford, GM, Mopar plus Detroit DDEC I&II. The later reader I have came with two DDEC cartridges and had backlighing. $175 for everything.

You do have to look around and not buy the first thing you see or you will get shafted. I looked for a couple of weeks before I found ours. The Ford, Toyota cartridges usually go for about $10. It's the Detroit, Cummins, ABS, Allison cartridges that you have to look for. So, inexpensive Pro-Link readers and cartridges are out there but you have to research.

Don't pay top dollar for ANYTHING. Where there is a will, there is a way. Airline tickets, Nile cruises, aircraft radios, etc, etc, etc.

My first reader was 100.00 bucks and it worked for two years with every day use , when it went south I had to find another and Jerry a forum member gave me a heads up on eBay that one cost me 250.00 with case and cable's. Wouldn't own a Detroit with out it. Well worth the money IMHO ^.^d

Please advise if this series V(five) will work in the 1989 DD 6v92TA which is a DDEC series II(two). Many thanks.

No, the cartridge that Andy posted a photo of is the latest cartridge for the Pro-Link 9000 for a DDEC II. DDEC V or 5 is for a Detroit series 60 series 4 cycle. All Foretravel ECMs are DDEC II (2).

When searching for a reader/cartridge, there are several names it's sold under. Detroit Diesel, MPSI, Kent Moore, Snap-On and perhaps a couple more. Snap-On owns Pro-Link now and does not give any kind of support. They gave me the cold shoulder on the phone.
