Awning rafter arm not lock

When raising the large awning, 2001 Zip Dee, the rafter arm is extended to the top of the coach and locked into place by pulling down on steel main arm bar.

Mine is not locking.  The ratchet stud fails to lock into place on the extended rafter bar.

It is as if the stud does not find a hole or serrated area on the rafter bar

Ideas?

I can fasten the awning down by a rope to the ground from the end if the awning roll up tube.

But i figure something is amiss as I have had it holding the awning taut without the rope.

Maybe i need to slide the rafter arm off, see how the pin should be locking.

The spring loaded pin can get turned to where the catch is longways in the tube and will not engage in the groves when you try to stretch the canvas tight.
I hope this is the answer you were looking for.

Oh my Ron!  Great great explanation.  I have turned that and bet I got it misaligned.  Explains why worked and now not.

As a newbie I am finally able to return being helpful after all the help I have received on the forum. I know it wasn't a very technical problem but I am not very technical either.
Glad it was a simple fix.
