The vinyl in our 1989 GV was in good shape but just sagging down because the foam and adhesive behind the vinyl let go due to heat and age.
I removed the center strip. It is just held in place by snaps and decorative caps. I then proceeded to pull ALL the staples up there, and there are a lot of them.
After that the vinyl really hung down! I vacuumed out all the sticky orange colored foam and glue. Careful here, as it is still sticky enough to be a real pain.
I then went into FOT and got about 30 of the matching snaps and covers.
I pulled the slack out of each ceiling half (towards the center of the coach) and then restapled it in place. One MUST keep the staples close enough to the center that when the original center strip is reinstalled that it hides the new staples.
I then used a chalk line and snapped a line halfway from the center to the cabinet faces. I installed the new screw in snap covers on 12" centers along the chalk line.
Inside the cabinets a previous owner had fastened the sagging vinyl back up using wood strips and screws.
My repair job has lasted about 10 years now and still looks good.
One thing I have noticed about the adhesive backed anything is that when mounted vertically or on the ceiling, most of them succumb to the intense heat encountered when the coach is closed up we were down south. Not all, but enough that I was extremely wary about using these high tech adhesives. Prep is so very crucial, along with environment.
