Ride Height Valve, filter and Muffler repair kit

RN10JE by Haldex

The ride height valves on the Foretravel have a rubber cover "Muffler" and a fiber filter installed in the exhaust.  The Mufflers rot and come apart in a short time and fall off and then the fiber filter falls out.  This allows road dust to get in the valve and it eventually fails.

Searching this list I found where others had this problem and improvised to prolong the life of their valves.  The valves are expensive and no repair parts were available.

It seems Haldex finally started making a repair kit with the filter and Muffler.

The part number is RN10JE.

People have purchased them from NAPA.

A couple weeks ago I tried to order three of these kits from Napa to pick up in store.  Never got any response to my order and now the Napa web site shows currently unavailable.

I started searching and found that FindItParts.com has them for sale for 5.59.  The problem with them is a 7.95 handling charge per order and high shipping charge unless the order is over $50.  I decided to order 9 kits and get free shipping.  I installed three and plan on keeping three spares. That leaves three kits to pass on to another Foretravel owner.

My cost plus postage or if local just my cost.  My cost is 6.46 each.  Tax is already paid. You and order from FIndItParts or I will pass them on to one of you.  I do not mind having two sets of spares they will be used someday.

I was thinking they were more than that. But I understand the rubber parts do not last long and they are cheap now that they are available.

Since the replacement will probably eventually fail again, most jury-rig repairs work fine forever. Our long clear vinyl tub clamped on valve with filter, and vinyl end partly closed off has been doing the job for over 10 year.

The part that fails is the black rubber part "Muffler"  it is hard cracks and falls off and then the filter falls out.

The replacement parts fit tighter and is real stretchy rubber.  It is thinner than the original and is not suppose to fail like the original.  Time will tell.  Two of mine fell off in the shop and the filters fell out somewhere else.  The front one was still there but was about gone.

The new ones have to be turned inside out and stretched over the exhaust part.  The first one was very difficult but the second and third went faster with experience.

Time will tell.  I purchased three sets.  Sold one set of three and have three just in case these do not last as long as I expect them to.  I will likely acquire a spare ride height valve just in case.  Need spare coil for the six pack valves.  I have spare plunger/seal kits but if a coil fails I would have to steal one off the slide seal to get on down the road.
