Blower going out on the furnace???

As the headline says I believe thit's leave that my furnace blower is going out.  It almost sounds like it's rolling on on gravel 1/2 the time when it stops it makes a large "Grunt." Any ideas? Possible just to replace the bearing?

If you need a new furnace motor, the first step is determining the exact model number of your furnace.  Then you can go online, find the service manual for your furnace, and look up the model number for the motor.  Once you have the correct motor model number, you can search online for places that sell it.  Foretravel might have a motor - doesn't hurt to call and ask.  The motors are often available on Amazon or eBay or from online RV supply houses.  Just need to look around for the best price.

See the thread linked below for some helpful tips:

You can replace the motor, search Utube for Atwood furnace motor replacement. Once you have the # from your old motor/ and or the model of your furnace the motors can be found all over the internet. Foretravel would be your last choice $$$

If it has been more than five years since the furnace motor has been serviced it would probably increase air flow if you pull it out and clean the squirrel cage and lubricate the bearings. I use 3 in one oil with some powered graphite mixed into it. The graphite will continue to lubricate as the oil drys out.

To lube those bushings, I would strongly suggest a light viscosity non detergent oil.

Sewing machine oil works very well.  A couple of drops on either side of the fan motor and it will wick into the bushing area.

Good preventive maintenance and can forestall the need for motor replacement in many cases.

Cheap and about 45 minutes. The part number is on the old motor. The rear and front furnace motors are not the same. You'll need an extra long allan to get the rear hex set screw out.

I replace both my furnace motors; both were screeching and rattling. I found the furnace model numbers inside the access doors, found a video on YouTube and bought the motors on Ebay. Pretty easy project.

Oiling it may work for some. I wouldn't waste the time oiling the motor, it won't last. These motors are good for about a 1,000 hrs.
I worked at a place for a year, and we replaced tons of them, and sold many more out the door. All older coaches.

You need the exact number off the motor, not even the heater model number always works. Some run at lower amps, some rotate the opposite way, even though they look exactly the same, or the number is one number off.

Be very careful to not bend the squirrel cage when pulling it out

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably oil it and order the motor.

As John 44 says, if you can find a tune up kit ( burner, orifice, igniter) that way it's all done. But those parts are becoming hard to find.

Becoming hard to find?  They were hard to find 7 years ago...hopefully it has gotten easier since then with more reproduction parts available.  Link below to my search for a burner:

Lubricating the motor bearings often stops the loud sound.  We use a spout oiler with its very long tube to reach each end of motor shaft and then rotate shaft to let oil drift into motor bearing.

We have also replaced motor, which can only be purchased on internet.  If sound is from a dry bearing, getting oil in there usually fixes it.

Even a drop at a time on the end of a long screwdriver or anything long enough to reach the sides of the motor works just fine.
