Triangular Shower

Hey folks, Mikeado1 in Lubbock, TX.

Triangular shower; looks a bit small to me. Or is it just an optical illusion? I've seen references on the forum threads to the "big triangular shower". Haven't looked at one in person. Wife's a bit skeptical !

I also have not seen the "triangular" shower in person, so my comments are FWIW.

When we went shopping for our "First & Last" Foretravel, my wife and I both placed a high priority on getting a roomy bathroom.  By roomy, I mean not only a generous sized shower stall, but also lots of counter space around the sink, and lots of elbow room around the toilet.  We ended up buying a 40' coach with the WTBI floor plan.  Based only on floor plan drawings, I believe this is probably the most spacious bathroom layout available.  But, since I have not actually seen all of them in person, can't say for sure.

I don't know what model years interest you, but the link below to the floor plan diagrams for 1995 provides a good overview of the 3 types of bathing setups used by Foretravel.  To me, it's not that the "triangular" shower is small...it looks to be roughly the same floor area.  To me, it's the shape of the shower stall that is off-putting.  Just seems like it would be kinda awkward moving around in that shape space.  In addition, the models that include the triangular shower seem to have less counter space, and more crowded toilet space.  But once again, my opinion is only based on the drawings.

Before you commit to buying any floor plan, I believe you should do everything possible to see it in person.  This may require some traveling, but it will be worth your time.  I see you live in Lubbock.  There is a informal gathering of a number of Foretravel coaches next week at a RV park owned by a couple of Forum members (see second link below).  If you wanted to make the drive over to Gordonville for a day visit, I know you would be welcomed by the members as "prospective owners".  Just call ahead and let them know you are coming.  I am sure they would be happy to walk you through whatever coaches are present, and tell you MORE that you want to know about all of them.  Foretravel owners LOVE showing off their classic old rides!

I used one for 8 years. No issues.

One other thing that ALWAYS needs to be considered is height.
For example, our 1989 GV ceiling in the shower/tub is so low that I have to make sure I am standing within the confines of the skylight.
I am, or was 5'10" the last time I checked and I cannot stand up straight in the shower/tub if I am outside the skylight opening.
If you are 6'+ make sure you check for adequate clearance.

Norm,

If you're like me, you get a little shorter every year (IN HEIGHT...).  :'(  Before long, you'll have lots more head room.

Once upon a time, in a world far, far different from this world in which we now live, I was 5'11-1/4" tall.
My Dad always thought I would grow up to be over 6' so when it came time to buy pants for school I always ended up with the belt line about 4" below my chin. (His reasoning? "Oh, he will grow into them")
Seems I never did. Graduated from high school at 5'6" and 142#. Not exactly a middle linebacker for pro football.
Just checked: Now 5'7" and just under 197#. Oh, and now 79 years young.
WOW, amazing what 60 years, degenerative spine/arthritis, hip replacement, cancer, and general wear and tear can do!
I bet I now don't have to duck when in the coach's shower!!

Similar issue in our 2001. I'm 6'1" and fit just fine when in the skylight. Took a bit of getting used to but now I don't think about it.

My 87 Foretravel came with  a full sized shower and bathtub. Kept bumpin my head on the  white plastic square ceiling above the shower. I'm six foot six. I climbed on the roof only to discover a square clear plastic bubble over the shower. I carefully removed said square plastic bubble  and layed it aside. Looking down from above at the  white plastic square I had an epiphany. That means the lil lightbulb came on above my pointed head. I was able to remove said offending square plastic square. I replaced the square plastic bubble and properly sealed it to prevent a free shower over the tub when it rains. Now I'm able to look out the clear plastic onto the roof while taking a shower. I can look at the stars and the moon enjoying the warm spray of water hitting me about chest level. My wife now enjoys taking a bath in the moonlight. Beats the hell outa the shower in my last RV, a nice lil Toyota. My arthritic knees got a helluva workout every time I tried to use that belly button washer designed for them lil Asian fellers. Anyhoo, if anyone else has a similar problem, maybe a trip to the roof of your RV might be called for. 
EMT living in Missouri. Recently purchased 1987 Gran Villa 36 Ft. long,460 Ford engine with 40,000 miles on it, new tranny has 3000 miles on it, coach has 75000 miles on it, new 5000 watt genny new fridge, new tires. Am both excited and scared out of my wits at the size of this beast. Love it but need time to become accustomed to it's size.  I'm sure it will take time to experience all the secrets this RV has to offer. Any and all advice gratefully accepted.

 I have 72 in  without the skylight.  78in under the skylight .

Thanks a lot folks!!! That's helpful. Actually, my wife was wanting to go see her best friend in Dallas. Maybe we can make it the weekend of the get together and come have a looksie at a few GV's.

Like others said, the WTBI floorplan (walk-through bath) gives a HUGE bathroom. That's what we like about our coach. The shower is plenty tall for us.

I used to be almost 5' 8" and 135 pounds. Now the height has dropped and the weight has gone up. Doc says I'm too short for my weight. That's what happens when you stay married to the same good cook for 38 years.

We have the WTFE in our coach and find it is the best for us!  At 6' tall, I have plenty of room in the shower with lots of height.  Never heard of a Triangle shower?  Ours in more like a octagon, 3 sides to a 90 degree wall.  You can't shower with your wife, but plenty of room for each of us!  Shower, toilet and counter all in the same room!

We have the "triangular" shower, would I like bigger? Sure!
But it is what it is, I only spend 10 min every couple of days in there (usually).
Still MUCH better than my time in the military, weeks with no shower or bath, only occasional wet wipes to hit the smelly parts.
Not a deal breaker if the rest of the coach is well maintained.

Perspective I guess.
