Holding tank locations

To be honest I have never looked thoroughly to discover location of my fresh, grey and black tanks.
I chock that up to mostly covers and panels over them requiring removal to view which for the most part I have not done.
On my 98 u320 I know that behind the water pump on the passenger side is the fresh water tank. Does that tank extend to the drivers side? I have noticed a tank on the drivers side behind the hose water hose reel which I think is the fresh tank. That leaves the grey and black tank. On the drivers side I think the grey and black tank are located behind the panels for the outside faucet etc. with out removing them can someone advise if these tanks run the full width of the coach?
My thoughts are that this spring I am going to install a direct fill for the fresh water and a  seelevel system for all the tanks as the OEM System is not that accurate

On our coach, which is not a '98 U320, the fresh water tank is white translucent plastic and the black and gray tanks are black.

None of the tanks on our coach run all the way across the width of the coach.  There is some free space on both sides...but (with the black tanks) a lot more on the driver side.

Removing the "beauty panels" is not hard but IS tedious due to the number of screws and copious quantities of white caulk.  I left a couple of my panels off after removal to allow easier future access to the tanks.

Search the Forum for "Seelevel" to see numerous threads (with photos) showing how to install the sensor strips.

On the drivers side that is the fresh water tank you can see and the black and grey are
behind the panel with the valves and on the passengers side the are just behind the
grey panels which I have removed.

Peter, another good reason to remove unneeded trim panels and discard them. Important to keep eyes on leaks, connections, water level, and have extra storage. Some trim panels are to hide things that should be seen, especially in an older motorhome. Amazing how much extra storage can be made available in some covered areas.

Great points!  I had not thought about the storage area increase, but now that you pointed it out I think a few panels will"go" to make some more"important" storage. Also being able to see any hidden leaks speaks for itself....

If you decide you need to remove the wet bay panel that holds the water faucet, you could take the opportunity to make some modifications to it.  You may decide to mount a Seelevel digital readout on it.  You may want to update the electrical and cable connection outlets.  Some members only replace half of the panel and leave the other half off to allow access to the holding tanks.  Others (like myself) have installed smaller less unwieldy water faucet connections and a "inspection port" for checking the tanks.  Lots of possibilities!  8)

Peter, our style coach has a bottom panel that we did not remove, with faucet, dump valve handles. The upper part that we discarded, contained electric & cable outlet, which we removed and relocated with cables ties, Angled fiberglass small trim pieces were removed to have access to top of tank.

Coach does not have Aquahot and we used Lasco personal heaters in cold weather.

Seeing you have a 320 and from north of the border, keep in mind that the AquaHot radiator, fan & mounting will limit storage where we have open space. Also the outer trim we are talking about may work to keep AquaHot warm air in place by closing off the holding tanks.

But for sure you should at least be curious & learn about every corner of your coach before you have a problem, or to prevent a problem. So, remove panels and decide for yourself about putting them back.

Putting inexpensive leak detection alarms on the floor in these places WILL save your bacon, if any leak how small develops.

Early on I removed the outside faucet because it was leaking and in the way. I've been wanting to redo the driver's side of the wet bay, but haven't really settled on exactly what I want. Doesn't cost much to erase lines on a paper, but eventually I'll either have to settle on something or just leave it alone and let the next owner do what they want.

I've pulled the cover off so I have seen the navigator' s side of the black and grey tanks. I thought about leaving it off, but realized that that panel also keeps small items (like a screwdriver) from running into places where I can't retrieve it. My coach is long before AquaHot, but I suspect that the panel also serves to help keep heat in that space.
