2006 Nimbus 226 Power Steering pump Belt tensioner part number

Heading says 226 my bad coach is a Nimbus 336

My wife heard some squealing on the last trip. I cannot hear high pitch noises.  Caused by Dove Hunting and working in a printing plan then As an Electrical Engineer working in a lab full of equipment with Sona Alerts screaming most of the time.  Not to mention decades of competition shooting.

When I arrived home I looked in the engine compartment.  Cummins ISL 400.  The engine belt looked brand new but the Power Steering pump belt was starting to look worn.

I started the engine and there was some movement in the tensioner and the spring tension might be a little low.  At least compared to the Engine belt.

Pully alignment looks OK.

I replaced the belt with a Gates K80465 still have some tensioner pully movement.  I did not have the HD version of this belt if that makes any difference  The part number I had was without the HD.

Any idea?

You might need to get a new tensioner if it is bouncing.  I  have been told if out of alignment it can cause bounce also.  I had the bounce eating up belts every few hundred miles. Put new tensioner on and problems went away.

tmehrkam I would make sure you get a Cummins replacement part "tensioner pulley" I just went through this with my 2003 U295 with the ISL 400, about 2 years ago I had both the tensioner's replaced, after 2 year's traveling about 23k miles the power steering tensioner belt was showing some wear and was running real close to the power steering pump with no load, the pulley's would touch slightly under hard load, I tried to replace the belt with the new back up belt I carry a K80465 and the tensioner pulley would not break over far enough to install the belt, what I found was the belt that was on their was a K80471. So off to FOT for a new tensioner pulley. what I found was the clocking pin on the replacement Dayco tensioner was 40 degree's off not allowing the tensioner pulley to break over enough to install the correct K80465 belt, other than the clocking pin the tensioners are the same.  The Cummins replacement tensioner put the needed clearance between the power steering pump and tensioner pulley with the correct K80465 belt. I personally would call FOT for the correct Cummins part number. I currently do not have access to the invoice for the Cummins tensioner from FOT. I would bet they are the same between our coaches both being ISL 400 engines.

Just give your serial number to Cummins and they will give you the right part.

You think Cummins supplied the bracket for the Power Steering pump?  I was under the impression Fore-travel fabricated that bracket?  My coach only has 38K on it.  The tensoner shows no wear. Every thing looks good just a little bounce.  The belt looked like it was worn a little all and all not in bad shape.  The power steering has less tension than the water pump belt.

Sorry for the delay in responding DW had gall bladder removed and I've been preoccupied with her. Yes Cummins supplied the belt tensioner to FOT.

Called Foretravel. They gave me the Cummins number. They did not have them in stock. Suggested getting them on line.  3922900 is Cummins number. Found it on Amazon and ordered it late Friday. Suppose to arrive Monday. Got notice it was delayed.😫 Should arrive by the 15. Tracking showed no change. The 15 in the PM ordered again from different listing. Shipped next day delivery  Came late last night.🙂 Looked good I installed it this morning. One problem they both had a square hole that fit a 1/2" break over bar. When I tried to install the belt that brake over bar would not fit the hole it was 7/16 instead of 1/2".🤬 Used a 3/8" bar it was very loose and two darn short to get good leverage.

It worked and no vibration. Looks like it is fixed. Purchased a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter an Amazon. 1/2 female to 3/8 male coming tomorrow. Just in case I need to change belts on the road.

On my way to the Mid South rally then going on a Month  long trip. PS: the adapter cost more than the new tensioner which was $36 with free shipping.

So your amazon tensioner will fit and should function , but over the years I've become more fond of cummins parts not china will fit parts. The water pump on my ISB will live for 150K OEM or 25K autozone junk. Im sure it will be fine but it will cost more to tow when it fails. I too have hearing issues and that is another reason to pay the extra for OEM. Just my opinion. DWMYH

No photos on the web sight so no idea if it fits. No promise time frame when trying to order. What you say makes sense but I need it to leave on my trip and that does not seem to be possible. The one that came in the coach was from 2006. Looks brand new but it was wearing the belt. Only has 36000 miles on the coach. I think the spring lost tension.

His will have to do for now at least.
