Drive on Ramps

Hey All.....I'm looking to build some drive on ramps have any of you done this. If so can you post a few pics and dimensions ?

Hans, I have 4 of these made from 6x6 treated.  36" piece cut on the diagonal for the ramp part and 2 18" pieces to sit on.  Add a stop.  Assembled with long construction screws, 6" will work if you counterbore. 

One each side in the front.  2 each side in the rear.  A spotter helps when driving up.

Thx Roger...are they wide enough for both tires or one ?

I used stacked 2x12s that I treated with a wood preservative. It's hard to prevent them from warping and subsequently not sitting flush  on each other. They still work fine but I'd probably go back and do it like Roger if I ever make more.

The nice thing about my approach is I can split them up if I only want a couple inches of lift under one tire.

I used those on my '81 but used 1 3/4 drywall screws on each one as I stacked them for storage at home. Then for a trip unscrewed them for easier storage on the coach and reassembled as needed where we camped. They never warped this way.

Maybe these,  These are electromechanical, others are hydraulic/air.  All interconnected for uniform action.  At Cummins they have them that get the coach high enough to walk around underneath.  Probably why an oil change is >$400. Might be cheaper than a pit if you have clearance above..

Roger, I tried to buy a set of these at auction but my pockets weren't deep enough lol!!  I called the company they were electric over hydraulic were not made any more but engineer said they were good lifts.  i'm still keeping an eye out for another set

I saw a set of 4, new on pallets, surplus Govt Equipment, Marines, I bid a few thousand, sold for $12K plus fees, plus shipping.

I have some 1-7/8" thick LVL risers for the landing pads. They shorten up the pad but they get the coach 7-3/8" up from the driveway plus whatever you can get from raising the coach all the way up. Stick in your safety stands and wheel chocks in place.
