Biocide

Hey folks,

Any recommendations on fuel biocide? I was told Bio-Kleen is good, but the MSDS on the stuff makes me cringe!!!! Appears to be highly toxic. Anything safer out there? Thanks in advance!!!!

All are going to be toxic.

Biobar JF is a very widely used biocide, particularly common in the marine industry.

A biocide while not chemically the same as an medical anti-biotic.(anti-life) They both serve the same function. Killing bacteria. We humans feed ourselves just enough poison to kill the bad bacteria and not kill us.

Just wear a pair of rubber gloves like you should when fueling up and you will be fine.

Maybe a silly question, but is biocide something that I need and should be using occasionally? I have not seen it mentioned in any of the manuals I have for my coach. What exactly is it's purpose?

A biocide should be used when storing diesel over 2 months in summer or 3 months in winter and if you ever see signs of algae in the primary fuel filter.

NO, it is not needs as an all the time additive.

But, every time  you fuel, algae may be introduced. That's why I add some when I fuel. Diesels were my business starting in the early 1970's for about 15 years. Diesel is stored better now but it still finds it's way into fuel tanks and once there, it grows, especially in warm weather.
