Safe

I have had my coach for 7 years and have never opened the safe due to not having the combo.  I have heard that the master combo comes from the numbers in the RV's VIN.  Anyone have any insight on this?

Thanks,
Woodie

Not in the VIN but if you call Foretravel with proof of ownership and the VIN they may be able to give you the combo. (Unless a PO has changed it.)

Foretravel will have the combo and if it is changed as Justin said, the safe is really easy
to take out and then take it to a locksmith and they should be able to get you the
combination. I replaced all the screws with security screws so it would really behard
to remove..

I had the combination but was scratching my head after a couple of tries. Then I went to the mfg site where they have a good diagram showing exactly how to do it and then found this YouTube video.

Nice thing about having one of those unfastened "safes" is that you keep everything of value, like money, credit cards, records, and jewelry in one place. Saves a thief a lot of time and they can then open the safe at their leisure. >:D  :))

Ours is more for stuff that we need to have, but don't need very often. It was unlocked when we bought the coach from Wethereds in 2013 and hasn't been locked since. The combination is written on the safe door, and a different combination is written on a 3x5 index card. I'm not about to lock the thing and then find out that neither combination is correct.

If the door is open, you can test the combinations to see which is the right one. If neither take the plate off the back of the door and make your own combo.

Yes, this is exactly correct. I prefer to remove the fire box by removing both cabinet door hinges then four self tapping screws into wood. Remove box and take out of coach and set on work bench so its at eye level. Easy to change the wheel combo, however I couldn't imagine doing in place. Neck hurts just thinking of that. I also ruin the fire integrity by drilling two holes in the bottom if the box and screwing into the floor below from inside the box.  If the coach burns it will be a failure point for the fire box, but it becomes much more difficult to remove. Just as easy if you have the combo. You can also sent your new combo to Foretravel and ask them to update the records for future easy access by others.
