Re: Tow/Tire fix near Phoenix

That's what we did. Our dolly tire blew on I-20 where there was a VERY narrow shoulder and trucks going by 3 feet away at 75 mph. There was NO way to deal with the blown tire in that location. A TX DPS officer pulled up behind us with lights flashing to protect us from the solid stream of truck traffic. I backed the Sorento off the dolly and the DW drove it up the road about a mile to the next exit. The DPS squad car followed behind me as I drove the coach in the "slow" lane at about 20 mph, dragging the tow dolly with the blown tire. The tread on the tire was completely gone, but the sidewalls were still intact and provided some protection to the steel wheel. I took the exit and there was a handy convenience store parking lot where we pulled in to regroup. The DPS officer asked if we needed any more help, but I told him BIG THANKS we were good. Then all I had to do was remove the mangled fender and tire, and install our spare mounted wheel/tire. The steel wheel from the blown tire ended up with a few scrapes on the edge of the rim, but otherwise came through it fine. I reused it for my spare tire wheel, and it's still in service.
