How Do I Remove Bedroom Awning

Spring broke and we're away from home.  I want to remove the awning and tube to store it while traveling. It would seem as easy as removing the bolts that secure arms to the body and sliding the top of the awning key out of the channel at the top. Am I correct?

Don't know about yours, but there is a screw holding the flex key in place that you will have to remove first--if you have the screw like ours.

Dirt might cause binding. Either water or silicone spray will reduce effort to pull out the flex seal.

After 20 years, you may want to consider just cutting the key strip and replacing with new after the spring is fixed.  The strip is relatively inexpensive and does deteriorate over time.  It is constantly exposed to the elements.  Replacement is pretty straight forward.  You can order the strip direct from zipdee.  I think it does come in a couple of sizes so keep the parts to measure.

Rich is absolutely correct. All your flex keys should be changed and this is a great time to do that. Also on my 2001 there was no screw but the aluminum extrusion that it slides into wis crimped to secure. They sell a tool to open but I had good luck with using a tapered 1/4' metal dowel and lightly tapping extrusion to open/uncrimp
I would cut each side back and place a tyrap or wire around them rolled up before you set them free.
