Hit and Run

In an unusual turn of circumstance my neighbor had his Maserati hit last night. For some reason he parked on the street and his 4 door got smacked by an "Old" Winnebago who just kept on going. No number plate visible and the cops are reluctant to do anything.

Unfortunately, to many people, ALL old motorhomes are Winnebagos.

Why can't we have nice things? Sad that he suffered damage to  an elegant automobile. Great example of why not to park something nice on the street and not in your driveway. Not that it was the cause of being damaged. I'm sure the thought "Stupid Winnebago" driver entered the owner's head after seeing the damage. Hopefully the insurance company doesn't decide to "TOTAL" the car to save it from paying out repair fees. Best of luck to him. On the flip side of the coin, how many RV owners have parked their rigs on the street only to have them damaged by a hit and run driver. Sadly it goes both ways. I dislike paying high insurance rates, but am thankful when insurance companies DO their job.
EMT living in Missouri. Recently purchased 1987 Gran Villa 36 Ft. long,460 Ford engine with 40,000 miles on it, new tranny has 3000 miles on it, coach has 75000 miles on it, new 5000 watt genny new fridge, new tires. Am both excited and scared out of my wits at the size of this beast. Love it but need time to become accustomed to it's size.  I'm sure it will take time to experience all the secrets this RV has to offer. Any and all advice gratefully accepted.

You do not have to be parked in the street!  On our last trip in our Phoenix Cruiser, Jeff and I had a front tire blowout. Safely pulled over on the far right shoulder ... as far past the yellow line and rumble strip as the sloping bank allowed, we were inside waiting for a roadside guy to come from Lordsburg NM to an exit where he could then head east to our location on I-10 (which was just west of exactly nowhere in SE Arizona).  Two semis came barreling east on I-10 and the guy in the right lane decided that it was too much trouble to courteously slow and use the left lane to give us some space. It was either by design (because we were a pesky RV) or the physics of wind between the 2 rigs that pushed his trailer into the side of our vehicle.  The BAM!! was loud enough to affect my hearing (not to mention my cardiac arrest ) and rock our vehicle.  We could only see thee 2 trucks side-by-side through the front windshield as they passed and went down the road.  No company name, no distinguishing marks, too fast to capture a plate number.  He took out the rear left corner (missed the tail light) and left a nice scar down the left side.  It was pretty shocking and we could have been in serious trouble had he hit us harder.

It goes both ways when dishonest people are involved.. My closest estimate is that 40% of people are honest and 60% are bums. That figure for honest, honorable people is suspect for being over generous but I'm feeling warm and fuzzy today.

  As told to me years ago. " everyone wants to feel special" .  It was a sales company so of course we were told to treat them that way.
  It's actually a good way to live life but tough to do.

 You have to look no further than driving down the highway.  In Oregon ( 55 limit ) try setting your cruise on 55 and see how often your passed.  I thought the gas crisis might change that,  gas mileage wise, but it didn't.

  Point is, feeling special we will break the law just a little bit but .... Where to draw the line.  If you jack rabbit from a green light in Phoenix you'll probably get hit buy someone running a yellow to red light.

I'm not special enough to not break a traffic law but if I should scrape or damage your vehicle or belongings with you not around I will leave you a note with my phone number on it. I have to shave this face often and it looks rough enough already for me to soil whats under the rough cover. That's the part I have to sleep with. Its not special or shouldn't be so rare to be considered so. So I say draw your line as high as you can and try to live up to it. That's about the best we mere mortals can hope to achieve, At least that's the best I can come up with in my years of pondering.

Dont know if it will make things better or worse but when I flip on the salesman switch on the camera and dvr are active till I shut it off. Might catch who is responsible or not. Shame people couldnt treat us the way we would treat them.

Scott, don't have quad cameras but our GPS has a camera built in and as long as it is turned on it is recording. It is mounted just below eye level on column left of driver seat and is focused straight ahead.
