Is This A Dip Stick?

On another topic people told me to follow the diff dip sticks to see where they went and I did that. There are three dip sticks on the rear of my coach. I now know what the two on the left are for but the one on the right has me baffled. When I unscrew it there is no stick attached to it. Can someone please tell me if there is supposed to be something attached to it or is it a filler tube and if so for what? I took some pictures of it.

That's your oil fill tube. If you loosen up the clamp that holds it at the top you can slide it out and turn the opening up. This allows you to add oil after an oil change.

Yup, that is where you add engine oil.

A funnel with hose on the end helps reduce the mess.

You may also have an on-engine place to add oil (no first hand experience with the Cat 3208).  I know the Cat 3116 that replaced the 3208 did have one on the valve cover. Found it much easier to just pour oil in the on-engine fill and just removed that long fill tube.

On my 88 GV with the 3208 there was a fill cap on top of the valve cover. If you raise the bed you can see it.

Make sure that once you put the "plug" back in that you turn the handle clockwise to cause the rubber to expand and hold the "plug" in place. Turning the handle counter-clockwise will loosen the "plug" so it comes out easily.

Every removable item in our engine and generator compartments has a string attached with other end tied to something.

Too many stories of removing a cap and forgetting to put it back.  Or not tight enough and it falls out.

The best story is when we remove the coolant cap and temporarily place it on the top of the pressure tank, and after driving for hours find it still on top of the pressure tank, proving the soft Foretravel ride is good for other than comfort.

Relating to filling, cutting the front of a coolant jug and hanging it it in the engine compartment so we know what to use when adding.  This applies to all fluids including tranny, engine, hydraulic.  Information is needed near every filler point.

No such thing as "plumb dummies". There are folks who have not had a particular experience and when they do have that educating experience they are prepared to aid and assist others.
Welcome to the Foreforum world. Everyone here really and truly enjoys helping others. We all had to educate ourselves by asking questions, or in my case, solving something thru blunder, error, and just plain dumb luck until I asked here on the Forum.
Dumb is forever. Ignorance can be fixed.

Thanks for the enlightenment nighthawk. However, Last Sunday at Church one of the people at church told me I was really in trouble. I asked what I did wrong? Did I miss pronounce a town in the Bible, did I miss quote a Scripture, did I miss place a particular miracle? They said no, they just haven't invented a pill for STUPID YET !!!  🥴 😂
