Roof spot light fuse or breaker

The roof spot light on my 95 U320 is not receiving power at the switch. The spot light does not work and there is no movement when I work the position control.
Is there a common location for a fuse or breaker?

While we're on the subject, does anyone have a favorite grease for it? Mine sticks a little in winter but is fine in summer. Tips?

Lon, Do you have the wiring diagram ? If so start by looking for blown fuse  which I doubt because most FT circuits are protected by auto reset circuit breakers. I Believe that you will find these in front of the passenger seat.  Check the circuit there for voltage , and then follow the wiring diagram , circuit numbers should be marked on the wires.  Mine is a GV so your Bus type may be different.

Hi all.  As this is one of the few threads I could find referencing the roof spot light, I'm posing this question here.  My U295 has this type of light. BUT, no discernible switch to power it on/off or means of turning it left to right.  I find no knob, rocker switch, handle or turn key for the thing.  I've even looked in all front cabinets including behind the TV/media/access panels (though  that would be a most dysfunctional spot to place it).

So if someone could tell me where I've likely overlooked it already, I'd be grateful.  It's probably the only remaining item I've not been able to test since purchase. Well that and the Wineguard satellite dish, which will remain untested for now.

Many thanks.

Bill,

I've messed with our spotlight several times.  First I worked on the original (inoperative) light and returned it to a functional state.  Then later I replaced the OEM light with a upgraded remote control LED model.  Try the links below to see if they are any help to you.

On our '93 U280, the original spotlight control was mounted in the fiberglass panel above the driver's (seat) side window.  As I recall, it had a on/off switch and a little joy stick to control the movement.  I think I had to have my ignition switch on to power the spotlight, and there was a fuse for the spotlight power circuit in the block of fuses under the lift-up dash cover.

Thanks, Chuck.  I'll check there.  Just heading over to the coach now.  I've got 3 days left on the rental spot where I've been working on it for the last 5 weeks.  Three full notebook pages of repairs and upgrades completed so far...

I'll check into those links later tonite.

On my 95 U320 its a toggle switch to turn on the spotlight and next to it is a silver toggle switch to move the spotlight, they are mounted in a brown plastic switch plate that sits next to the drivers seat on the panel that holds the toggle switches for all the other coach items such as mirrors, side lights, fans, engine brake, etc.
Since you must move the toggle switch to aim the spotlight, it has to be in a spot where you could sit in the drivers seat and operate it with ease.
If its not there, I would suspect that it must have been removed.
Are there any plugs or holes in the area I mentioned where the switch might have been?

Very timely post Lon.  I was looking in spots Chuck mentioned and did not find anything at all in that area.  So then I was beginning to wonder if the PO had done something, what I couldn't guess.  My plan was to follow up last nite then I got sidetracked.

Your information may explain two things: 1) the spot light controls and 2) those two mysterious, unlabeled items just behind the cup holder on the left of the driver's  seat, the cup holder itself being directly behind the control switches for dock lights, boost, retarder and the retarder joystick.  I'm very curious to try it now...I've been hesitant to mess with these two unmarked widgets until now... 🤦🏻‍♂️

There was a very old post on how to rebuild your roof spotlight. Must have been 10-12 years ago. Excellent and well thought out. Might have been Nitehawk that did the post but I can't find it. You can replace the bulb with a LED now as I did with our fog lights.

On the road but will post it when we get home. I ordered a couple bulbs that turned out to be too long. Next bulbs were perfect. I did a fog light rebuild post with photos a year or two ago.

Those two mysterious switches are your spotlight controller.

Here is the post with my fog light refurbish in reply #1 at Driving light and Entry Light  The pair of H3 bulbs are about $12 delivered and have the link.
