Ice on slide

Well I feel like I dodged a bullet this morning. Couple days ago I parked my coach if front of the shop. I normally park undercover but I have a coworkers SOB here for generator repairs put his in the covered parking to facilitate leaving last week on our trip to KOH. Got home and was tired out so I decided not to swap them back around as they are now.  Yesterday we had a huge storm. Hi winds, rain and even had snow on the ground. Just crazy for our area (Southern Nevada). The top of the slide was covered in dust so I extended hoping some would blow off and I could blow the rest away later. This morning I hopped in the coach and retracted the slide without issue. Pulled to the street then repositioned the other coach  and mine under cover.
I noticed what looked like a bunch of broken glass were the 320 was originally parked. Well it wasn't glass but actually big chinks of ice. Water had gotten on top of the slide and frozen. I can't image all the possible damage this could have caused. Looked like it all slide right off as the slide retracted

You should know in a day or two if you get a bladder leak.

Bladder is less than a year old and still under warranty. I'm confident the shop would replace. But thanks for bringing that tidbit of information to the top of my concerns

Scott, unless you had a leak in the slide cover and deposited water and then ice on the slide top itself, you should be okay.  The slide topper should have just rolled that thin ice off the top as the slide came in.  Ask my how I know!

I just posted about slides. awnings and ice on the tilting thread before I saw this thread.  I have cut and pasted below:

Another slide/water/awning issue.

VERY IMPORTANT!  If the slide is in, awning is wet and then frozen, DO NOT EXTEND THE SLIDE until the awning is thawed.  It will break the cast aluminum end caps on the roller tube.  It is pretty exciting when the awning spring let's loose and unwinds.

Your awning can wick in water and freeze even if it is rolled up and stored. 

If you think the awning may be frozen, you can avoid this damage by manually extending the awning to make sure it is not frozen before extending the room.

Rich;  I broke the cast end cap on the slide topper and yes, it is interesting for sure!
