Anyone know where exactly the sending unit is for the speedometer?,it's the older electric VDO,the odometer is still working
but the speedo stopped, will crawl under later and look for loose wire.

I think the spedo signal is from Allison computer, but do check the meter 12v pos and ground Also put a meter on signal wire at spedo to be sure it is dead. The signal measures pulses, so not sure what a meter would be measuring, but for sure if you see something on the signal wire, that is not the problem.

Tach signal is from sensor that is visual when looking under bed on engine/tran bell housing. This tach signal wire is known to come loose at sensor.

If the VDO is working, the speedo may have a fault. Call a VDO shop. Lots of them around the country. I use North Hollywood Speedo.

I bought a GPS speedo. It installs in the same hole but did need a little wood work with a file to get it to fit. Works like a charm. Best to keep the GPS receiver in the shade so it does not get hot. Inexpensive on ebay. You can't add ODO miles so you have to keep track of the milage the old speedo showed when you removed it. This is the one I purchased: 85MM GPS Speedometer Odometer Gauge 80MPH 130km/h Boat Car Truck Motorcycle...
