Rear view camera and backup sensors install

Trying to contribute to the forum since I am getting so much from it.

Found this system on eBay. It is used for box trucks like UPS and FedEx.
9" Monitor- HD Cameras w/ 6 Sensors

Following others examples on the forum I drilled a hole in the back on the drivers side and used a fish tape to run to front. Then pulled the rear camera cable from the back to the front.

I drilled a hole in the back panel next to the hole I already drilled in the side. This is where the rear camera cable from the front goes. I removed the drivers rear tail light. This is where I installed the sensor module. The rear camera cable plugs into the sensor module. The rear camera and all sensors plug into the sensor module.


Then the nerve racking part of marking and drilling holes for all the sensors was next. It actually went really smooth. After drilling the top holes used a fish tape to feed the wires to the center area then down to the sensor module. I filled all the holes with expanding foam.

The side cameras ended up be pretty easy. Just drilled a hole in the floor under the dash area and ran the cables to the cameras.

I really like the way it tells the distance you are away from an object not just beeps like a car does.

How do you like the side cameras? I have a setup from the same brand minus the back up sensors but I have not yet installed the side cameras. I know others have experimented with the positioning of the side cameras.

Having the side cameras are really nice. I didnt like the low location do to blinding the camera with headlights at night. I am really was amazed at the performance difference at night with the infra red backlighting. Must be aware of anything that could reflect back at camera. Great upgrade.

TBD, but I tested several locations based on ease of installation and testing at night. Tried with bright lights and turn signals. They adapted very well and I could clearly see where the lights were. The field of view starts right at the front tires with a clear view of what is behind me. Of course the proof will be when I get to use them on a regular bases. In the end I hope not be doing a lot of night driving.

When I back out of my side gate I am in the middle of a sweeping arc to the left, angling through the gate with only a few inches on either side. If I am lined up perfectly it is probably less than 3 inches of clearance on either side. Mirrors work fine with the exception of being able to see exactly when the wheels clear the gate columns and I can crank it even sharper. I do well with my wife as the spotter but a view with the cameras would probably be nice too.

Nice looking install.  Where/how did you mount the monitor?  I'm thinking about buying that same system and torn between the 7" and 9" monitor.  It seems like the 7" could mount in place of the OEM Javelina monitor but the 9" may wind up on the dash hump?

Jury is still out on where I really want it, but I just used a piece of sheet metal to mount it on. That way it is easy to change after I try it out a few times. I also do not want it point directly at me so my better half can see it as well. The more eyes the better.

Jeff i had considered on the dash but really like having overhead pretty much like a standard rear view mirror
