Primary Fuel Filter (U320C)—– (1) Win HF180

I just picked up a 1995 U320C with the m11 engine.
The primary fuel filter is listed as a winn hf180. I'm unable to locate this filter while crawling around underneath.
I'm hoping one of you has a diagram or picture showing its location and what it looks like.

Also, they don't appear to be available for purchase online. Is this an obsolete part?
Any help would be appreciated.

Brandon, Open the passenger side basement door just behind the drive wheels.  Behind and above the start batts will be a fuel filter.  Cross the Winn to Wix, Fleet guard, Baldwin, any good truck diesel fuel filter.  NAPA is a good source for filters.

When you put the filter on, fill with fresh fuel and tighten hand good and snug to tight.  Do not use a filter wrench to thighten the filter. Lube the square o-ring on top of the filter too.  Diesel fuel will work but I like to use vaseline to make sure the oring turns when you are turning the filter body.

I like my 2001 U320 42 but there are some things I miss not having the 1995 U320 we owned for a good number of years.

I see the fuel line above the batteries, but no filter system.
I'm wondering if someone removed it?

Sure appears that way. This leaves you only the engine mounted fuel filter. Now would be a good time to upgrade to a new primary filter. There are several good options.

Rudy and Mike- thank you for the assistance.

Is it safe to assume that the bigger line in this picture is the fuel line?
I'm guessing the 2 bolt holes in the frame is where the system was removed.

1. Yes the connector/coupling you see was in and out through filter
2. Yes.
3. there is lots better places to mount your replacement filter as lots of us have done. Wallowing around on the ground to change a filter on the side of the road stinks so give that some thought before you mount your new one.

Here is one example of a better location but there are others.

I thought changing filters in the yoga prayer pose with diesel running down my arms into my pits was the required penance for having bought a diesel pusher.

Bw,

By the looks of the fuel line they are most likely OEM. If this is the case you need to budget new fuel lines as they are getting to the end of there life span.

I ordered a new Davco Fuel Pro 382 last night. The plan is to temporarily jam it into the same area the Winn was mounted and then relocate and replace fuel lines down the road.  My 13 y.o. would help replace lines now but my preference is to be a little more mobile following shoulder surgery in January.
Do any of you know the current fitting size? I'd like to pre- order adapters to have everything on hand before cracking the fuel lines. I'll need to position the 382 a little higher  to mount it above fuel tank level, but it appears doable. This may change once the 382 arrives.

The previous owner of my 95 U320 disconnected the filter, I replaced it with a Racor.
The original was a problem waiting to happen.

You might drop a P/M to Don as he may have the info on the fittings as he has recently installed a Davco filter on his coach. When he sees this he may chime in also.

The Davco filter housing should have 1/2" NPT female threads for in and out. The existing fuel lines are probably 5/8" with  10AN female fittings. So you would need 2ea. 1/2" male NPT x 10 AN male fittings.
At least this what I have on my coach so double check to see if my advice is accurate for your situation.
