Trans cooler screen

I'm in the process of a coolant flush and wanted some feedback.
I pulled off the hoses on both sides of the Trans cooler and on what I'm assuming is the inlet side I found what appears to be clumps of a paper like substance plugging up the screen. I also found the same stuff up at the radiator cap.
My Trans temp has never given me an issue and always seems to run cool, thankfully.
Is this something I should worry about as far as the cooler goes? Or did it do its job and once I flush the system it will be ok without needing to further inspect the cooler?

Those are tubes and they run right through the cooler. I had mine cleaned and tested last year as is it
was over twenty years old. He said it was dirty.

Thanks for posting! Wish I had pulled mine off when I replaced the coolant. Guess I may end up drawing and saving to reinstall. Would really like to know one time what mine looks like. Those coolers generally are a straight shot to the other side. Guess I'll evaluate once I have my coolant hoses off. Need to address the support for it anyway to take loads off of the radiator support. I would suspect that that is coolant stop leak material? Good find. I would probably spray with the pressure washer to evaluate how well it cleans up and then do what Peter did.

Calcium/magnesium deposits from hard water?  My vote is that it is stop-leak residue. Had my cooling system flushed ~ year and a half ago at MOT.  Wanted the hoses replaced, but they forgot.  A cooling system flush should include new hoses and an inspection of the transmission oil cooler especially when the rig is old.

Not sure it's stop leak formula...it looks like paper, like what you would find in the washing machine when you leave paper in your pocket... though maybe that's what stop leak turns into once introduced to the coolant?

The crap in stop leak could look like that. I had never used stop leak till my foretravel. You never know what someone prior may have tried

With what you have found you need to pull the water pump by pass hose and see if the washer/orifice has the same. Here is a link to what I am talking about. Still running hot

Googled "bars leak cellulose" turns up at least one competing coolant system leak-stop product that is cellulose-based:

So are you saying the picture of stuff that i found could be leak stop?...i guess it does look like it has fibers in it, which I'm assuming would be cellolose...
