Low water pressure

Installed a new shurflo 4048, which is what was replaced, and don't have enough pressure.

When I first installed it, it began to run on its own , without an open faucet, so I adjusted the switch screw and it stopped running.

My understanding of the bypass is like a recirculating valve, so should I screw in the by pass screw to raise the pressure of when the bypass starts?

I've done several turns on the bypass with no change.

The switch screw is in item #1
The bypass is in item #2

I need more water.
This pump is too quiet for me, the pump that I pulled out which was the same I could hear when it ran. This one I can't.

Remove all screens and double check filter at the pump if you have one. Maybe knocked some calcium loose

Just because it is new doesn't mean it isn't faulty, as John said call their tech.

When we found the 4048 & 4008 too quiet, we ran a wire to kitchen sink area that powered a piezo sounder from the wire that goes into pump motor. When the pump pressure electric switch closes, the piezo sound off, letting us know pump is running. Nice to know when pump is running while faucets are closed.

Assume you are correct on bypass adjustment screw. Front electric pressure switch is just an on-off switch and does not change faucet pressure when water is flowing. Pump is a constant pressure motor, only reducing apparent faucet pressure when bypassing.

These are both great highly recommended pumps.

Is only one faucet too low, like shower? Faucets have screens and shower may have water-saving restrictor that should be removed. Pump does best when only one faucet is open at a time.

Nevada born/ checked my screens and although there was debris, no change in water pressure.

John / I called tech support but really not much help, still in the same situation.

Old guy / you are right just because it's new doesn't mean it can't be faulty.

Barry / like the sounder idea. My previous pump, which was exactly like the one I installed used to give me more water than I ever needed even with two sinks, open at the same time. I always had to just crack the faucet open so I wouldn't waste so much water.

Nice to have ball-valves before and after water pump. Are all valves fully opened, including water manifold. Does every faucet, including bay display low water pressure.

We put an electric switch on 12v wire flowing to pump so it can be controlled at pump area. We also don't bolt pump down and have long flexible hoses so we can bring working pump out of bay, but some models don't have space around pump to have extra length hoses. Thinking of disconnecting hose and running pump away from bay to observe water flow directly from pump.

Is the pump motor voltage measured on both positive & negative wires at pump over 12 volts. A poor ground could cause issues. Low voltage would run pump slower.

Evening everyone,
This afternoon I repaired the original pump that I pulled out because it wasn't working.
I replaced the start switch, and now I am back to copious amounts of water coming out of my faucets.

Here are some pics of the switch that I bought from Amazon. This is for the 4048 shurflo pump.

In the end, the brand new pump that had never been used was bad. I will try to repair it.
