Be VERY careful putting any screening in front of the radiator intake.  When Chevrolet presented the maintenance seminars at FMCA conventions, that was one of their absolute don't do's as it significantly restricts air flow into the cooling package.

During their Q & A someone always asked/said they did not feel it was that restrictive.  The answer was to take a piece of that screen the same size/mesh and hold it out the window while driving at 60 MPH.  You will then know how much resistance there is.

Nuf said.

"Wipe its nose" at the end of a driving day with a wet wash cloth and call it done.

Then you will be "paying" a lot more amps/alternator load to run the fans if you go this route.

Chevrolet's recommendation was hardware cloth as a max restriction-- and there the discussion was about rocks on the Alcan highway (before it was paved).

Yes, first drove the Alkan in 1975 when there was as sign "next pavement 1,588 miles"! And then a couple of times thereafter.
