Dometic 7832 fridge

I have the dometic 7832 fridge in my coach
Someday I will have to get new one, perhaps residential  but for now it works just fine.
I have two questions
In the first pic there is a thermo coupler(??) in view ( round small unit) I presume this is the recall that dometic had years ago. Am I correct?
The second question is I found an unconnected wire and the only place it could go is in the negative side of the block, so I put it there (12 volt) It is the wire with the loom in it. I presume this is the right place?
I have been running my fridge both on propane and with shore power and never noticed a difference with the wire off??
Why?

I guess that wire wasn't necessary to make it work.

Peter,

You need to do a complete clean up of that area-- make sure wires are clean copper and tight,

Looks like the black cover has a lot of holes in it???

Floor of compartment a little hard to see, but looks compromised.
