New mud flap

I recently traveled to the factory for service and on the return trip I lost my mud flap somewhere between FOT and MD. Ordered a replacement from the factory and with help from the search forums (thank you!) sucessfully installed the new one.

$412 total. $220 for the insert, $45 for the rubber (or hard plastic) and freight was about $150.00. One box with the flap rolled up and the stainless insert was sandwiched between two 1x8 boards then wrapped in cardboard.

Looks nice. Myself and others have done similar. A mud flap has a tough life and a nice looking one adds to the looks of the back of a coach. One thing I try to remember to do when backing into a site is to take a rubber tarp strap and put both hooks under the flap and drape the rubber part of the bungee over the tow hitch. That lifts the flap up and helps keep the stainless logo from dragging on gravel or pavement. That piece is pricey and anything to keep it looking nice longer is a good thing IMO.

Everyone should check to see if mud flap has multiple metal fasteners supporting the rear mud flap. All the fasteners wear from movement and over time could break. If only two fasteners, the mud flap will drop and do damage or just disappear.

Some put eye bolts near center and keep a short chain to swing the flap up and hold it up against the hitch with a chain over the hitch for use when rear is lowered.
