Go to Replacement for the Original Sharp Microwave Convection Oven?

Hello Everyone!

I was wondering what seems to be the easiest replacement microwave convection oven for the original sharp oven, our oven bit the dust and provided a fireworks display for free! Oh yeah I bet this going to be free!! This will be for a 2003 U295 has anyone purchased a replacement oven recently? Also how hard are these ovens to remove and install? really how hard is it to remove the trim and find the screws for the oven? I just remolded the kitchen on the house so I have a good understanding of how there normally mounted in a house. I just wanted to pick the brains of some that have already traveled this down this road recently.

Any and all information is appreciated. Thanks Mike

Do a search (top right). Lots of write-ups on change-outs. Lots of listings on pretty much, exact replacement model numbers.

Mike, The Sharp Model Sharp R1881LSY should be a direct replacement for you.  It's a microwave/convection combination.  We are very pleased with it and the convection is nice to have.
When I did mine, I used the old wall mount plate. That saved some extra work.
Look closely along the top behind the metal vent trim for 4 or 5 screws going upward into the bottom edge of the cabinet.  They are kind of hidden.
Follow the install instruction with the unit and you should be fine. You need to "hang" the unit along the bottom back edge and then tilt it up.
I did it alone, but a second set of hands would sure make it easier.  You have to feed the power cord up through the bottom of the cabinet. There are two long bolts that can be a pain to start sometimes.

Another good thing about this model is the door offset.  It allows plenty of room and doesn't interfere with the cabinet side.

Good luck with the project, it's a nice upgrade.

If you place a 5 gallon bucket under the microwave, once you remove the bolts it will tilt right down on the bucket. Do he same with the new Sharp mentioned above easy job

Mike;  any convection microwave will fit for a replacement.  You have a choice!  29 7/8 inches on width, depth should not make a difference, but you might want to look at the orientation of the handle and how you would like it to swing out.
On the original microwaves that were put into these coaches, you have two bolts up above the cabinet for the unit and Foretravel installed two long screws behind the face plate as well.  You need to remove those first and then the bolts up above.  Like Chuck mentioned, a 5 gallon bucket to assist in removal and replacement with maybe some rags on top to keep from any scaring.  I have replaced a many of these and you should have no issues, just take your time and pick the unit you want.  Most put in the Samsung, but we have had two failures with these in the past 3 months.  I installed the LG in ours and am happy so far.  Good luck and post photos if you can.
