Shocks vs. air bags pre- 2000 FT 4000

Can anyone please clarify for me if a 1998 Foretravel 4000 has shocks and air bags or just one or the other? Thank you!

Thank you!  I was told only airbags, which did not make sense.  Do you know how often you need brakes.  Owner had them checked and said it was good to go.  I am having an inspection before I buy, but no one has been more helpful than this group here!  Should I ask the FT 'group'?

Yup, "all the above".

8 outboard air bags, 8 shocks.

Start by verifying RIDE HEIGHT.

Sorry, no answer to "how long do brakes last".

How were they MAINTAINED? How were they USED?

Sold our Foretravel with 170,000 miles and still OE brakes and over 50% linings.

If  abused, they may need replacement at 30,000 miles.

Air disk brakes are a bit unusual.  Do NOT let a "regular" truck shop work on them unless they have a tech with experience with air disk brakes.  Air disk brake are also found on fire trucks, so check with your local fire department. One of their techs may moonlight!!!

How about 150,000 miles on a 25 yr old coach with original disk brake pads that measure pretty close to original pad thickness.

It does take some maintenance to keep slide pins clean. Allison transmission retarder is the secret of brake pad long life.
