1998, 8.3C throttle arm
On my way home from the incredible Alaskan Motorcade I had a minor part failure.
The lever arm, bolted to the fuel control, pulled by the King throttle wire snapped off. The result was no foot feed control. I coasted to a stop, dead in the road. The Cassiar Hwy 37, famous for no shoulders and drop offs.
Once the bed was up, and I figured out the failure, I rigged a small pair of vise grip pliers the length of the broken arm. Then I hooked the cruise throttle cable to the threaded adjusting screw, and of course wrapped some duct tape on the wire hook.
We drove 225 miles south, the jury rig worked. At the campground that night the kind owner offered his services to get the lever welded. The throttle arm failed at the point where the pivot hole was drilled thru the center of the leg. The repair included a new metal gusset across the "L". In addition he added metal to the area with the two return springs, had worn from years of use.
