Wiper Arm Location

While Mike and I are still working out the mechanical bugs in my 270. We are trying to understand why my Uncle would have swapped the wiper arms side to side. Have any of you ever seen this before? Yes, they work perfectly like this but I will be putting the back to inboard when stopped.

Do a search looking for Juice squeezer's write up on this. I went into mine a few years back to replace a broken idler shaft but don't recall all the details. The dash has to come off and I recall having to drill a hole or 2 in the underlying plywood. Some what choresome and difficult to get to but I had no options as in my wiper on the drivers side had a broken shaft. Seems like mine will stop wherever they are when turning them off, will yours not?

These go to this park possession when turned off or even when you pulse the wipers they go back to this park rather than at the center of the windshields. I haven't seen one set up like this so we were throwing it out to see if anyone else has wipers that park like this.

I'm like Zack, I couldn't easily get used to it either. When Joe see's this , I bet he will pull up the post he made complete with photos of going into the wiper innards. His pictures and explaining are complete. They can be a bit of a booger to get to.

When I was working on my right hand wiper arm as was broken I put the left on in wrong so it
worked backwards so I think that is what is happening with yours.

Mike & I have looked at every possible scenario for this and so far can only conclude that the complete wiper assembly including the bases were swapped side to side for an unknown reason. On Mike's 320, the smaller arm is outboard of the bigger/main arm. On mine, the smaller arm is inboard of the bigger/main arm. They work fine it's just stopping outboard instead of inboard is a bit odd to me.

I will look for my write up, but the nut that holds the arm assy on the wiper shaft has slipped and it will then park in the outside position.  Moving the arms themselves will not work, trust me on that!  I will post my write up, as it was done back in 2020 on our way to HWH

I think what I had done was to was to run the arm on the bottom instead of the top of the shaft that
goes though the cab that the wiper arm is attached to or it was the other way around I can't remember
for sure. Look at the way yours is and do the opposite.

Well this issue has fallen down towards the bottom of my priority list but it is still in my crosshairs to get fixed hopefully sooner than later. I have read all the posts above but what I am trying to understand is how this happened in the first place with both arms parked outboard the same. The motor is working perfectly, no issues.

I will be going into the dash soon but I would really like to have a solid understanding for what I am actually looking for that is wrong before cutting holes and such in the dash panel. I as others have concluded, swapping the arms will not fix the problem. It just seems really odd to me how these could be so far out from where they should be and still work with no functionality issues.

You probably have the holes already in your dash as someone has probably put them in as someone
has to have been working on them that they have been put in upside down. When you get in there
look and see whether the arms are below the shaft or above it and just change it. I think your will
have to pull the shafts out to change them.

Ah, ok. I will stop by my storage lot today and check that. What all is involved in pulling up the top dash pad?

Wiper motor mount

Has photos in link. I used a sawzall and a vacuum at the same time.. worked well..

Pull the fuse cover off and you will find screw at the  top. The dash middle flip dash cover needs
to come off. I didn't pull the whole dash off, I can work on the wiper from the right side. The dash
cover is held down with Velcro. There is probably but that's all I can remember.

Windshield wiper shafts

If you have the arms off would be a great time to lube the shafts. Pandora's box
