Tv antenna

The small wire attached to antenna on roof with small black box Is this a warning device for antenna left up during travel?

There should be a Mating Magnetic Block that aligns with that unit, when the antenna is down, similar to an ADT window alarm system. That controls a Light on the dash board and a beeper behind the dash...

Leonard, I changed my antenna to the King Jack also. Very happy with it. One thing I did notice was that when on the highway with a little wind, we would get a dull rattling noise from the unit. It seems that there is just too much play in the shaft. As it was right over the drivers seat area, it would drive me crazy.

A simple fix was that I got a piece of 2" silicone tubing about 4 inches long and slit it length wise and then slipped it around the antenna between the head and the coach. It still allows the antenna to be easily rotated but it keeps the units from having any looseness. Been about 2 years now and works great.

Depending on how your antenna sensor is wired, cutting the wire to remove the sensor may cause a continuous alarm in the coach.  IF you run into this problem, try connecting the two conductors (positive and negative) in the sensor wire together.  This will "complete" the sensor circuit and should silence the alarm.

Until I could get ours replaced, I had to separate and insulate the two wires on the roof. The switch had normally closed contacts that were held open by the magnetic sensor mounted to the antenna mast when lowered.

There was a post about this 2 or 3 years ago.

Ahh...OK...exactly the opposite of what I mentioned above.  I couldn't remember which way ours worked...sensor switch NC or NO.

Anyway, easy to figure out.  Cut off the switch, leave the wires separate.  No alarm - good.  Alarm - connect the wires.  Done.

Mine was already wired I believe from the factory.  The batwing antenna I removed had a booster on it that was wired to a switch in the passenger side cabinet above the windshield. I just had to wire the King Jack just like the batwing that was removed.

The power comes through the coax cable.
