Fuel filter #’s

Our 98 u295 came with a box of various filters but the numbers don't match the specs  Just getting ready to service in the fall  I am curious what numbers others may already use

Look at the part numbers on the existing filters and do a cross reference search, let us know what engine you have would help.
You should be able to see all the filters to get the number.

The engine is a 97 c-3 325 hp Cummins  I guess I assumed all 98 u295 were that engine also  sorry  Can't see the secondary filter yet    I  am planning to relocate it  maybe  if my health allows  Our previous Monaco isc 350 taught me to research more  The engine would miss on hills or when accelerating to pass  Changed fuel filters twice before researching the numbers closer at Fleet Pride  Someone had installed Cat filters that were a lot tighter micron  Problem solved

The secondary filter will be under the fuel pump on the left side of the engine which is the right side
of the coach.

Correct.  A 30 micron is OK for the primary fuel filter, but crazy for the secondary filter.

Think you need to use the recommended filter, the filter ratings are at different percentages, the 30 micron may be at 100% and
the 10 may be at 80% ,try adding some Diesel kleen and some additive for algae that may be some of your problem. The secondary filter is not that hard to get to,I would'nt even think of relocation, lift the mattress and you can get to it.

Likely the correct answer.  Each engine/fuel system has specs that establish to what micron the fuel must be filtered to.  Some Cummins engines are 5 microns.  For best information, call Cummins with your engine serial number.

Cummins 800-286-6467

BTW, Caterpillar calls for 2 micron filtration for their engines.

By the way Cummins primary and secondary fuel filters are both 25 micron and both water separators for the 97 c-3 8.3  325 hp

It is absurd to have the same micron filter for primary and secondary.  The primary will catch everything and the secondary will have a "free ride", and really only need to be changed based on time as the filter media doesn't have an infinite life.

Were it me, I would stick with the 30 micron primary and a 10 micron secondary just as you planned.

I agree  Going to fleet pride in the morning to see if I can find a differant secondary  I did question Cummins but he did not seem helpful  It's who you get sometimes That is another reason want both filters chassis mount

My 97 C8.3 325 hp use's Fleetguard FS 1251. It is listed as 20 microns.

Edit: The 1251 is secondary, on engine. I use Baldwin FS 5813 for primary. Baldwin claims it is 25 microns absolute. This is what came on coach when I bought it and I've been using it on a regular basis.

Enquire at Wix.  Find the thread pitch and od of the ring. Submit a question  . 25/8 micron may be close. 3-5 final will help the pump last.
They are very helpful.
