93 GV Fuel filter

getting ready to change my fuel filter- presently I have a Racor with the screw on water separator, I gave O'reillys the racor part # and they have a Wix replacement, but there is no separator bowl or any way to connect one- it has a petcock valve on the bottom. Is this a good conversion to use? What is typically the intervals for changing fuel filter?

I REALLY like the clear bowl-- allows you to tell at a glance if there is water, dirt or algae in the primary filter.

I would stick with that design.

That one should be good,we use the one with the petcock as opposed to the bowl,just drain periodically,I would not go past 10K
miles or 1 year,the filters are cheap,while your at it get a couple of spares.You could search for the racor one with the bowl,like Brett says you can see what's there.

I have been on the lookout for a new drain bowl.  Mine is getting pretty dark with age.  I am not having much luck finding one.  If someone has a source for the bowl that spins onto the bottom of the Racor S3202, please let me know.  I picked up a Donaldson filter with the bottom petcock drain as a backup until I can find the Racor bowl.

A Google search for the RACOR part numbers below should bring up several online sources:

S3202 is the bare metal filter
Racor S3202 REPL ELEMENT ASSEMBLY

B32002 is the complete metal filter plus the plastic bowl

I would definitely stay with the clear plastic bowl and buying the complete assembly and then just an extra filter also makes it much easier to change the filters. I would also install a shutoff in the line to the filter at the filter so that all the fuel in the line doesn't drain back into the tank and then makes priming more difficult. If the tank is full, probably not much of a problem, but if the tank is low can be very difficult.
