Swapping Air Dryer AD-4 to AD-9

Hello all,

Getting ready to upgrade the old AD-4 dryer to an AD-9.  I have been researching the swap and have come across several different "model numbers".  From what I can tell, the differences are everything from 12v vs 24v, 1/2" npt vs 3/4" npt fittings, mounting brackets provided or not, extended length vs standard height etc.

I would like it to be as "plug and play" as possible so I think I have narrowed it down to this one knowing I will also need to pick up a wiring harness for the heater.

Genuine Bendix 065225 12-Volt AD-9 Air Dryer with Mounting Bracket Kit (No...

Thoughts?

For anyone that has done this swap, will the AD-9 fit the old AD-4 mounting brackets?

Or...

Is there a better option other than the Bendix, as far as maintenance goes, that does not require reinventing the wheel?

Thanks....

Jeff,

Our coach came with the AD-9, so I haven't done the swap.  Because every coach Foretravel builds can be slightly different, I always hesitate to make any broad statements about what will fit where.

If you haven't already, try reading through the thread linked below to see if you get any answers to your questions:

I switched  out my old AD 4 to AD 9 on our 92 with a 6V92 with no problem, run your hot wire to one side and add a ground to the frame. Good luck

Should be an easy swap but like chuck said, hard to know until you start doing it. Decent chance you will need this wiring harness though https://a.co/d/hTRx1Ok
