Fuel tank pick-up

2002 U270 ISL 400 wondering if anyone knows if there's a sock or any other type of filter on the pick up tube in the fuel tank .thank you

All that I have seen around that build time were just a straight tube. What is the trouble you are having that brought this up?

FWIW  Our 1998 U-320 had no sock or other filter on the end of the pickup tube.  When I drained the tank to replace the fuel lines, I found a black piece of suspended goo in the tank, maybe 1/4-inch long.  There was NO additional junk, dirt, sediment, or other stuff in the 20+ year old tank!  I am convinced that the action of the fuel pump and the motion of the coach keeps the fuel churned up enough that impurities are regularly picked up and separated out by the fuel filters.

Deisel tanks usually do not have a screen or other filter device in the tank. Gasoline engines usually do. Viscosity and usually diesels have an external filter before the pump.

Thank you for all the replies. I didn't believe there was a sock as it would be no way to actually gain access to it. Have added a fass pump as I have a cap system and I have noticed after 40,000 miles the alarm set point on the pressure gauge under full load.  2 psi lower than when I originally installed it. 12 psi vs 10 psi now . With my cruise control set at 65 miles an hour when the transmission downshifts to climb a hill I noticed that the gauge will flash for a few seconds. Fass pump 95 gph @18 psi . Brand new primary and secondary filters idling at 700 RPM equals 18.5 psi. Have ordered a new mechanical gauge  to check the electronic gauge and a new pump thanks
